So I wanted to touch on Hog’s new “nerf” (cough revert cough).
Doesn’t this leave him weaker than he was before the buff? Hog was seen as weak or not a very good tank before his buff, but during this buff, he also received 2 nerfs that they don’t appear to be reverting.
The two nerfs they aren’t reverting are the following:
• 1 less ammo
• Slower RoF.
This means he is weaker than his state before this buff and he was seen as not that good before these two additional nerfs.
Shouldn’t they just fully revert him instead of making him even weaker than he was pre-buff?
Are they doing this because with shields out of the way, they think he will be stronger, even with 2 additional nerfs than before?
He isn’t weaker than we was. Hog is picked for his kill potential, and before all of these changes, he couldn’t secure kills consistently, which made him a liability. Now, if you know how to do it, you can consistently get kills with Hog, which is where most of his value is. He isn’t worse.
How isn’t he worse? The only thing this isn’t changing is his kill potential after a hook. But while hook is on cooldown, and he’s actively shooting enemies, he’s going to be considerably worse. We just have to pray that this random spread adjustment is enough compensation.
I freaking hope it’s enough because I HATE the fire rate change. It feels awful. God I wish blizzard would just stop buffing things. They always just end up even worse than they were before.
Did you read the shotgun changes? The reason he was extremely inconsistent with the hook combo was because of the random spread. It was a luck game. Now, it isn’t based on luck. It’s if you know how to do it.
I did forget about the spread change. I haven’t tested this yet, so Idk how much of a difference it makes.
Of course players will have to learn exactly where the money shot is on his spread, but before these changes, all he had to do was shoot + melee and anybody who mained Hog would still consistently one-shot combo most Squishies.
I know a few GM Hogs I go against that did it.
It just feels like an overall nerf because before the buff, Hog aficionados already knew how to do this, but now he is even slower and weaker than before that.
The difference between now and before the buffs, is that Hog had amazing shield break in exchange for a very inconsistent kill combo. But since Hog’s only use was to get kills, he was terrible. Now, he can do his job, so he doesn’t need the amazing shield break/spam damage.
Even really good Hogs had trouble killing certain heroes.
It will definitely leave him weaker than before, and he was already so weak to begin with. Harbleu one of the best Roadhogs in the game, who played him throughout all of his changes, very rarely played him before these buffs during double shield. And even before double shield he was not good at all except for a brief moment in season 17 I believe. Other than that, goats, double shield have just made Hog terrible for a few years now. Harbleu even said he just needs a bit more damage. He’s been saying this since season 5. The thing is that they need to NERF his heal, not his damage.
I talk more about how hog should be balanced here.
It’s ridiculous that he was trash before, when he had a faster fire rate and extra ammo, And now he has less damage as well.
So basically Hog now has the same damage as when he was trash and he has less ammo and a slower fire rate.
Jesus stop killing your game by listening to the whiners.
Honestly Hook 3.0 was fine, his hook just needed a slightly smaller hitbox and possibly a 10 second cooldown. His pellet damage needed to be reduced from 9 to 8, not 9 to 6 which was a THIRD of his burst damage.
Is impressive like people can’t understand patches and changes.
There is a big buff for Roadhog and they can’t really see.
Probably is normal considered this game isn’t true competitive for various reason and when there is a change buff some heroes and make the game more competitive, playerbase not understand it, too used to a casual gameplay.
