I know this isn’t really anything important and not needed, ppl don’t really stay during someones potgs either. So i wouldn’t be surprised if you all disagree.
But what would you guys think about adding different voicelines that the heroes could say during a highlight intro?
Like blizzard could add another section under ‘highlights’ that had the name ‘highlight voicelines’ or something similar. And you could equip only one voiceline at a time that you want to use, and then they could add event voicelines to that section as well.
I’m sorry if i’m bad at explaining but i hope you all understand what i mean.
This is just something that i just thought about but i know it would probably be a little hard for the voice actors/actresses, since they would have to work harder to get in more voicelines to the game.
So i dunno it’s totally fine if you guys hate the idéa, i just had it in my mind and wanted to share it to see what ppl would think about it
I think that would be a cool thing the only thing I want is a setting (that is auto turned off)
that matches your hero projectiles to their skin
so when I use carbon Fiber Or Nihon or an owl skin for genji my projectiles are blue, or red, or whatever color the owl skin is.
But I think adding voicelines to highlight intro is a cool idea
I would say all skins but I would understand if they just did it with owl
I say auto turned off so it doesn’t mess up competitive since this is a competitive shooter but in qp games I would have this on
It would be possible of course, for them to create new Highlights where the Hero speaks. However, allowing us to actually choose Highlight voice lines for the characters to say is too much work. That would mean facial rigging and animation (not even including facial expressions in general for what’s being said so that they don’t look robotic every time) for lip-sync on every voice lines for all languages. Even if they were to limit animations and lip sync exclusively for the English voice lines that would still be a crazy amount of work.
It would be a lot simpler for them to just create a new Highlight where the character says something specific in that Highlight, but that would be it. We wouldn’t get to choose what the character says from a selection of different Highlight voice lines. And, sure, many of us would probably think that they CAN technically do it. Well yeah, even if it’s challenging I’m sure they could. But their focus is on Overwatch 2’s development. They will never spend that much time (especially not with their animators) on OW1 stuff at this point.
If anything, you should suggest this for OW2 instead. There’s more chances it would happen there. On a side note: I DO like this idea, but realistically speaking it just won’t happen at least not for OW1.
I don’t think they would need to do all those things tho for it to work, i mean when we say voice lines in game it’s not like the heroes actually move their mouths or whatever.
But i do see what you mean and i agree that it would be too much work. But it’s nothing really important anyways haha i just wanted to see others opinions about it
Yeah i know, that’s why i would only see it actually work with the owl skins since it’s there the idéa kinda came from
So i don’t really know how it would work with base skins?
Theres actually a lucio intro that has his “oh yeah” voice line and they didn’t animate his face any differently. I think it would be cool to add more stuff like that.
Yeah in his “freestyle” highligt! That’s right! So since it kinda already exist, but not as detailed like i explained i guess lol.
But i totally think they should do something like that just to maybe make the heroes feel more alive in a way? You can really see some of the heroes personality through voice lines as well.
I mean you could just add them, sure maybe it would look weird to just have the voicelines there without their mouth moving or so, but it is possible.
Yeah i just think it would be cool if they could just record new voicelines just for highlight intros, like basic ones and like i said cool event ones as well
It would just bring something extra special to the game and something fesh i guess haha.
