TreeBoyDave (highest level overwatch player at level 12,848) got tearful on stream today over his disappointment with Activision Blizzard’s treatment of women & minorities, resulting in him uninstalling Overwatch & Battle.net.
Dave wants to raise awareness and encourage other players to reevaluate their decisions when it comes to supporting Activision Blizzard.

True. I don’t get the people who announce them quitting or uninstalling. Awesome. It’s unfortunate you don’t like the game, but quite frankly I don’t care

Do we really need all these posts on the subject? Yeah, we know what happened was terrible, we don’t need to hear 12 different versions of the same exact thing.
“X reacts to the scandal” Is getting irritating.
If its something new about the subject, ok then. But all it is is just the same thing told to us in 12 different ways.

Actually I like seeing it. It’s more of an announcement that more people collectively agree that Blizz is trash

Cool, good for him, I still won’t uninstall just because of what Blizzard did, not saying what they did were right just saying that I won’t punish myself for other’s mistake.

I mean good for him for not wanting to support game companies that have sexism issues. Unfortunately this is rampant across the industry, so he’s probably gonna end up supporting a similar company anyway.
The industry needs reform, and hopefully these lawsuits will be a wakeup call to other companies.

They miss out on future exclusive content? Their loss. I’m staying.

It’s a little more than ‘not liking the game’
I absolutely guarantee that if someone close to you were involved in what’s transpired/is happening in the industry as a whole you’d change your flippin tune.
So please. Shoo with that attitude.

What is it hard to understand, when streamer announces, that he is quitting and why? Even more, when they do it to rise AWERNESS? lol…

As I said on other threads, people need to stop thinking these issues will be solved via their wallet. You don’t have the discipline to make boycotts work. The fines are pitiful, a drop taken from an entity that has an ocean of money. Getting angry at someone on a forum? Pointless.
It’s the system that needs fixing and you won’t do that via exercising your “power” as a customer or trusting in the current system to fix it for you, providing “justice” with these measly fines that may not even go through if Blizz can manage to BS their way out of it.
It needs a form of motivation beyond money, because money has lost its power in this arena, because the entity has already amassed all of the money.

I still listened to Micheal Jackson’s music even when he was accused for various reasons. I also listen to the music from the “Jackson 5” even though the behind the scenes were not so pleasant.
I also still watch Movies despite Hollywood being known to take advantage of their actors/actresses in various ways.
I also still drive my car even though it will be one of many that will eventually lead to the death of the sustainability of the human race.
I still eat meat even after I’ve seen how it goes from the fields to my plate.
I still enjoy weapons even though I know what they were meant for and what they can to to me and everyone.
Point:
I will still enjoy my product.

I mean can’t he wait till court? so we can let Blizz say there defense?
Or maybe he will switch to play on his alt to scratch OW’s itches
The defence will be that they didn’t know what was going on, when they obviously did. That’s called lying. It’s a thing entities do sometimes in order to worm out of taking responsibility for things. Not that it matters if they’re believed or not. If they win or lose case, it doesn’t matter because the punishment will be insignificant.
Don’t you see? The system itself is a pantomime. Everyone gets up on stage and performs a little dance, a drop of money is given and everyone pretends that “justice” was done. Then the system can continue on giving little to no concern, turning a blind eye and covering up what they can until the next time it happens where they’ll toss out another joke of a PR statement, deny responsibility and so it goes on.
Nothing fundamental is changing here. It’s a giant performance and everyone’s playing their part.

Honey, you can edit and delete your messages all you want.
The mods can still see it.

dam takes a lot of willpower to do that probably, i love the game also and i condemn that company’s overall model on how they ran that company but my opinion is its not my problem. i play this game to have fun and unwind and relax, i dont want to think of blizzard/activision or whatever company for whatever game i play and whats going on with them… not my problem. im sure most of us have our own problems to deal with
i respect treeboydave tho and glad hes making a statement. i remember when he got accused of cheating or hacking or have some sort of 3rd party program. was overturned and probably just due to him being a high profile streamer and him actually meeting jeff. dont know if the average person would be that lucky
Does Dave know these allegations seem to be entirely related to the WoW dev team?
Seems a bit foolish to uninstall OW when the OW team hasn’t done anything wrong as far as we know

He should probably have quit by now anyway. That couldn’t have been healthy for his mind.

I think there’s a pretty big difference between one of your largest streamers leaving, and hordes of them leaving; so yeah, I do think every one that leaves deserves their own post.
You guys know that quantity matters in this stuff right? The visible quantity of content creators absolutely leaving Blizzard - WoW, Overwatch, everywhere - matters. It’s not just one dude, it’s loads of them. Which should inferr to you that there’s actually something pretty big going on, or that things are reaching a genuine breaking point.
Like… Problem assessment; one beam in your foundation being cracked is bad. ALL the beams in your foundation being cracked though? That’s a lot MORE BAD. You realize that kinda stuff also matters on like, social and public perception issues, right?
