High Latency out of nowhere

hi, i’ve been playing overwatch 2 since release, and i got around 24 latency.
yesterday i tried to stream the game, and it went well. but suddenly in the middle of the game, the latency goes high, around 180 - 200. everything rubberbanding and it is hard to play. then i thought that it was because i stream, so i end the stream but still got high latency.
and this happen until now. i still got high latency and sometimes 1 game with 20ms, and the other 200. i just want to know why is this happening and can i fix it?
all my friends that is in the same country as me doesn’t have this problem, and my friends with the same ISP doesn’t have this problem neither. and i don’t have any problem playing any other games, just overwatch.
i have tried resetting my router but only 1 time it worked, the next and after never worked.

Are your friends local to you? If not, you may not share the same routing even if the company is the same.

I am having the exact same issue

I have the exact same issue as well (ASIA server), sometimes I get 300 ping servers and all my friends we 5 stack are local. This issue also only happens in OW2 and when I played OW 1 I had no connectivity issues in all other games no ping issues as well, I could even play in Americas without this stutter lag.

Same problem here (EST (north america)
Some days it’s just 10 ish minutes but today it is laggy af. Like damn if you can’t make your new game playable, give us back the old one.

no they are not local.
i’m just saying that the problem is not the isp. maybe its on my end or the server’s end. but i can play other game just fine

Add a WinMTR for connection troubleshooting. Using other games as a measure of the internet quality won’t work because not everything is hosted in the same place. Kind of like how your dentist isn’t located in your grocery store.

There is definitely issues with the OW2 matchmaking me onto SEA instead of Sydney every few games. Yes I have a couple of NZ players in my team, but for NZ also Sydney server is dramatically lower ping. I also played with the same people in OW1 without this issue. I find it concerning that the blues here are claiming ignorance and not agreeing that there is a known issue because the word is around that this is a common issue which many people in AUS are facing.
You need to either fix your matchmaking so that it puts NZ and AUS players in Sydney only, or you need to just let us pick the local game server region ourselves.

For clarify. In OW1 I was getting ~30ms. In OW2 I get ~30ms, except when it puts me on wrong server, where latency will be 100-200.

This is 100% an issue on Blizzard’s side. Half the games I am getting 50ms… the other half I am getting 150-200ms. It’s not a ping spike mid-game. The ping is “stable” for the entire match, it’s just ridiculously high.

It’s happening to the friends I am grouped with too… that is to say, we ALL have the “normal” low ping or we ALL have the “high” ping in the same games, so it is 100% NOT localised to us, our ISPs or our individual connections.

It is pretty obvious it is the system putting AU/NZ players on Asia based servers instead of “local” AU servers.

150ms ping in 2022 is unacceptable.

It’s obvious we’re playing on Singapore servers because we can check it ourselves with ctr shift n. It displays network stats and conveniently shows what server/dc we’re connected to. syd2 is us. we’re constantly connecting to gsg1

Playing from EU and today I have super lag spikes constantly.

Happens to me every few games. Everything seems to float around. I usually run around 30ms every game and during these rubberbanding moments I spike to around 90ms, not as high as your 200 but the rubberbanding still happens but stop after a few seconds.

I also have an issue with randomly getting a black screen when I tab out of the game, I go to tab back in and everything is black. Game is still running in the background, can still hear the mouse moving along tabs but just can’t see the game.

Only started since OW2.
