…because, games generally re-purpose the main mode into ‘arcade’ modes and, as the default is 5v5, it stands to reason the default arcade modes are also 5v5…?
Sushi, homie, you know I love you, but care to explain the 1v1 mode, or the 3v3, or the 4v4? Arcade is where all the reject game modes go to die. Surely 6v6 fits that description better than my precious Zero G.
i think it would be cool but i hope its in a 2-2-2 role queue format since 4 tanks and 2 supports or 5 tanks and 1 support would pretty much be the standard. anyone playing dps in that mode would be useless unless the enemy team decides to play dps heroes heh

…like another user tried to mention, yes, specific arcade modes exist but the OP made a blanket ‘why no 6v6’ question (clearly referring to the old OW1 mode) to which I pointed out the default mode is 5v5 now so it makes sense for the arcade ‘gameplay’ modes (which emulate normal games) are 5v5…

The OP specifically asked about a 6v6 arcade mode. Not a blanket question as to why the game isn’t 6v6.

because devs have massive egos and will never let anyone have the chance of possibly enjoying a of a game mode they decided needed to go because that would prove their ideas are on any shape or form… not fun
“Legacy” or “Classic” modes can be an option.
But I speculate they are “red alert, all hands to your stations!” Since OW2 is under performing (not making initial projections relevant to OW1 success) and trying to get the story mode out ASAP.
So no time for fun and games.
Because their whole argument about 5v5 would vanish. Due barrier nerfs, hero reworks, reduced CC and queue times not being actually controlled properly.
Also, if they implement 6v6 would reduce the number of players who would actually play 5v5 and would increase Damage role queue times even more.
proving 2 points:
- heroes are overtuned to the point of tanks needing to be overtuned on the main mode, otherwise folks wouldn’t bother.
- 6v6 weren’t a problem, how to use their arcade modes were. Which also shows on current game having 5v5 and queue issues.
They could reduce queue times by making arcade modes more attractive to the biggest quorum of the game… damage role players, which in fact current ow2 main 5v5 mode is the most desireable mode for damage role anyways, due:
- deathmatch, roadhog pretty much owns it.
- open/classic, often 2-1-2 or 2-2-1 would perform better than 1-2-2. While there are some balance in there. Also folks would try things like 3-0-2, 2-0-3 and funny compositions, making the 5v5 look often bad on fun wise and would remove players from sup/tank queues and not much from damage queues.
- elimination modes aren’t that attractive, which is lame because the mode has some potential but never they actually really used it.
- mayhem often enables certain heroes, which often aren’t damage role.
- mystery heroes, is russian roulette at some degree, so mostly flex players would play.
- Lack of workshop in game, to enable certain players enjoy other kinds of modes.
Having less flex, having less tanks and having less supports overall on main modes. Because the main mode is one of the few modes that damage role actually are “stronger” or “desireable”.
Instead of simply tune down everything or use multiple patches. Adjust tanks to work on other modes in a way that things start to even out. Like they did with barrier reductions, heroes reworks and lowered the number of CC.
They cut 1 tank from main mode and yet their queue times are within the margin of damage ones. While on arcade modes the queue times are way lower. Making QP being more like “unranked” as they tagged it than actually “quick play”.
