Hey, Devs, Quick Question!

Hi, yes, Mercy Main™ here!

This post is not about balance questions, suggestions for Mercy, nothing of the like, I’ve just noticed the amount of feedback we’ve received from the devs recently. I love it, it is always great to see major changes in the making (Hanzo), and some details about the next event (Uprising)!

But it is one genuine question of mine, something I bet all of us over at the feedback thread would like to know: are you reading the feedback?

We’ve been encouraged to keep posting in the past, and that they read through it all on the daily by the big man himself, but with other heroes obtaining supreme relevancy in the eyes of the OW team, is Mercy still being looked over even when you claim the rework a success? It’s all I, and those ever there would like to I know.

At the least, I’d rather not be posting there if I know it isn’t being looked at. Save me and the others some time, if this is the case.

Thanks!
~WhateverAlex

Pretty clear that they aren’t.

Well, not from here anyways. OWL only!

This is exactly about balance.

they do read it…they dont need to do anything about it tho…it’s their game and just because people want something, doesnt mean blizzard has to do it, if they think its not best for their game they won’t do it, no matter how much people want it

Question: Are you reading the feedback.

Where is balance in there? I’m searching, it’s hard though.

But you’d think, if they aren’t, they’d say: “We are done working on Mercy”, and then shut the thread down.

You want to know if they are listening to balance feedback. This topic is about balance feedback.

But if they are going to nod off everything they see, and trust me, there is every imaginable suggestion over there, why keep it open? Why let people keep posting there?

But in this, and any other case it’s just a thread, I am asking if they are reading it. Nowhere do I make claims about balance, suggest it or what have you. I am asking if they are reading a thread, just because the thread is about balance doesn’t mean much of anything.

The damn mega thread is at 12k+ posts of people complaining about a balanced hero that just got a rework

Even if they were listening to the feedback they’ve still got other heroes that are far worse off that haven’t had dev time which much larger issues currently

Not to meantion every post is pretty much an attempt at making her post rework which they said wouldn’t happen or trying to tell everyone valk is the worst ulti in the game and doesn’t make you play any different.

If I were blizzard I wouldn’t care what that post had to say because I’d have other issues that need far more attention

I’d just like to hear some news like this. Confirmation.

I think they consider it a succes. They got rid of the mass rez which encouraged bad play according to the devs and was unfun according other players.

And after the nerfs has she no longer a near 100% pickrate anymore, is she’s still viable and is she according to her stats in a balanced state.

But what can Blizzard do to make playing her more fun without making her overpowered?

What do you think she needs?
(I for one would like to see mass rez back but tweaked, but I doubt we will ever have that back.)

Reading and following/doing what the feedback said are two different things

They said they consider it a success anyways, not a matter if they do think it or not.

Since I’m not looking to discuss balance in this thread, head on over to the Mercy Feedback Thread for ideas on how to make changes without putting her in a bad state. Plenty of ideas there.

Be better than being left in the dark but it would be like turning a light on then getting attacked by hornets

But saying you agree/disagree with ideas or being more interactive than “We read these daily, keep on going” and sounding hopeful is so much better than just not using what the thread suggests and going dark on it all.

Given the volatility of this community and how people can misinterpret messages and get the wrong idea, sometimes it’s better for them to keep quiet.

If they said they’re not gonna follow certain Mercy suggestions (i.e. new abilities), even if they give the reasoning why or whatever, the Mercy community would go into an uproar.

If they said they were gonna experiment with a change, players would misinterpret it as an upcoming patch, causing whatever chaos based on the change and even more when they pull it out.

They can literally say a wrong sentence and the whole forums would just hound on that particular dev or the team. Which is why other devs are hesitant to communicate

But even if a wrong sentence can be interpreted so awfully incorrectly, why do we see rounds of consistent feedback time and time again?

I’m not disagreeing with the danger of replying, but I think it’d be a lot healthier to get it over with rather than letting the thread go on until the end of Overwatch.

They can read something and consider it without implementing it if they don’t think it’s better.

See above.

I’ll get back to this thread tomorrow, I’m really only looking for some confirmation.

Depends on your preception of “Consistent feedback”. The last time I’ve been to that megathread it was something about calling the devs incompetent, 3 sentence posts saying that she’s boring now, and even low-effort [redacted]posts just saying “Revert Mercy”.

Also, I have a feeling if they were to reply to feedback, saying they can’t do this or that, players would feel that giving feedback would be pointless if it’s not gonna have any significance whatsoever and just stop completely

They have said it before that they do read feedback. I don’t know how many times it has to be repeated, unless you want them to go into every “mega thread” and tell people that the feedback has been seen but they aren’t going to change any of it currently.
