Hero progression too slow

So some people calculated that it will take 3000+ hours to get a hero to max level. A SINGLE HERO!

I feel like this is way over the top. I get that Blizz wants long time engagement from the players and that is why they designed this system, but you shouldn’t need that many hours on a single hero to get it to max level. For that amount of hours you should have multiple heroes maxed out.

I feel like either the exp required to level up heroes needs to be lowered, or there need to be exp increases to the hero levels by doing challenges, events etc. This way atleast being active and doing stuff will speed up the process.

My max level hero currently is level 15, overall progession level is 126 (it even got bugged and reset to 0, making me lose 40 levels so say 166 is the real overall level). How does that seem like a good system? When my overall level is 10x higher than my most played one? Makes no sense to me.

Wondering if other people think it’s too slow as well? If so, hopefully Blizz will listen to the community…

It does nothing, but make me hate playing my favorite heroes. Especially when they’re not strong enough to compete in meta meaning I have to just sit and watch as other people farm up there Mains.

what about all the people who have already put 3000 hours into multiple heros too? lol… guess get gud huh?

But tbh I think there is a difference between time sinks which are “necessary” and time sinks which exist for cosmetic / achievement purposes and how you deploy them in the game…

Having a time sink to unlock gear / levels / skills etc which are “necessary” for having best in slot / most optimal set up etc I think you need to make the time sink reasonable for everyone to achieve… doesn’t have to be easy but it has to be achievable by the average determined player who may not be able to play the game like a full time job…

The other achievement stuff like i think blizz is going for here where the stakes are practically meaningless (unlocking different color banners / icons and generic and lame player titles) who cares man? Go nuts, make 10,000 hour grinds if it makes people feel accomplished to play that much. No one is being punished for not worrying about that grind, and nothing is locked behind BS content that you need. Now if they had put some awesome reward at the end of those 3k hours that’s actually highly desirable or NEEDED then I’d have issue with a grind that long…

That’s my opinion … who cares with this one? Do you really need the max title / banner for all your heros? Do people even read them? Frankly do most people even know what the random titles mean? There’s already like 1000 titles and I couldn’t tell you the difference between any of them or what that player had to ‘achieve’ to unlock it… it’s all just so random. Same for banners… a lot of them are just recolors or random crap… how would I know the purple one means you played 3k hours or the red one means you just started for example? (idk lol just all seems SO lame).

EDIT: I just miss being able to see your border and your public profile… that told everyone everything we wanted to know… if you were like a gold border player we already knew you had a few thousand hours under your belt and your profile could tell us right off the bat which hero’s were your main and what rank you were… that was infinitely more valuable than this crap imo

it honestly feels like blizzard heard people wanting “progression” and just slapped something there.
but ironically it makes you feel like it deleted all your progress since you functionally start from zero.
it makes no sense that a GM rein player has the same hero level as some guy who just started the game now

they could’ve made it retroactive but then it wouldnt increase ENGAGEMENT

Just do what I do and ignore the system. It ignored my thousands of hours of play history, so I ignore it in turn.

The goal is to make you grind for years without having to expand the system down the line.

Also it doesn’t even matter because leveling is meaningless.

It’s slow, but there should be something for when you hit 3k hours over time. I don’t mind it. It’s not necessary and gives you something to work towards in the long term.

Why, you going somewhere? Progression doesn’t mean anything other than having a really god damned annoying animated screen after every god damned map that you can’t god damned turn off… god dammit.

Nah, I think that’s a bit exaggerated. After level 20 it takes 60k xp to level up each time. You can level up once every 2 hours if you’re just one-tricking one hero. There is no max level as far as I’ve seen, but the rewards currently stop at level 200. Meaning it would only take 300-500 hours to get a hero to level 200.

Even if it is 500 hours, that is a single hero, way too slow in my opinion. I would love the namecards and titles for multiple heroes but I also have a life. The devs should develop the game for the average player, not the few streamers that play the game for 12+hours a day.

Progression should take time. That’s kinda the point. Took me 5 years to get to diamond border in OW1, but I was very proud of that. Some people took half that time or less, and that’s fine. It’s not a race. Eventually you’ll get there.
