"Hero on Free BP" is supposed to be comforting?

clearly an attempt to get people who dont care about cosmetics to buy their pass

Seeing both Baja and Prett like this is… surprising.

I really misjudged both of you, and I’m sorry for that.

You thought F2p means “free to play”, wrong it means “free to PAY”

Funny tho how many blizz defenders claimed new supp launch will be the solution to fix queue times.

Now people will need to grind hours…

So everyone enjoy your 10min queue times

Usually. Now situation is a bit different - you have literally entire world of naive fools, that believe various “influencers”, and you have many influencers, that will happily sell their fans for quick buck or two.

Secret is in screwing over customers, without customers realising it. Trend from “honest work” towards commiting fraud began a while ago, as corporate heads realised, that most of their customers are naive simpletons, that would be easy to fool, to the point they would even praise corporation for being so generous.

Or defend a scummy practice because it’s an “industry standard”.

Think same thing happened to ads - they used to describe actual benefits of product. Now they usually appeal to instincts of possible customer - “be cool and buy x” or multiple variations of it.

The only thing this BP/character thing is going to do is raise toxicity especially when it comes to competitive play i can already see people getting told why you poor do you not have a credit card or go grind ur BP more befor playing comp Blizzard clearly didn’t think this one through all they saw is a way to get players to open their wallets.

Yes. It is more comforting

But doesn’t make it less dumb

Useful chat bind “I do not have unlocked hero you want me to pick. Donate here to fix this problem” and whatever method of payment you pick.

I’m pretty sure that the guy who coined the name was laughing like Satan with the fires of hell glowing in the background.

I think it’s a bad move, OTOH, it’s not the end of the world even for Comp. a hero is on a pass simply to encourage buying Premium passes, there is no other reason.

I bought the battle pass too. But it doesnt mean I want any power related item in it. Heroes are power in this game. The game is balanced around hero switching. The new dps passive is for hero switching.

I do not want to have team mates who havent fully unlocked their power. Or cant counter certain comps. This gives you bad team mates. It kills pvp fairness.

I do not want the free to play model to impact player power, nor the integrity of pvp. Keep it all cosmetic. Or dont allow free to play players to match with players who fully unlocked the game. When free to play interferes with pvp integrity I am opposed to these changes.

We have a saying in Swedish: “Many small creeks together make for a big river”. This is exactly what this is, they bleed you slowly with one little thing after another and people don’t realize that eventually they’ve paid more than ten times for the same content paying for it upfront like with OW1 would have gotten them.

Lol imagine a comp game where you teammates demand you pick Kirito and you go “I don’t have the money for it, but if you all pitch in and send me money I’ll buy it now so we have her for the next round”. :joy:

I’m a big supporter of F2P. I’ve played a load of free games and never spent a penny on them unless i wanted to (some, never spent a penny at all after hundreds of hours play). My gaming was entirely funded by other people and the devs still got paid.

However, P2W is disgusting. Heroes behind a battle pass is bad in general, but its P2W if you can pay to unlock them early.

Overwatch version of OF. For some extra cash I would pick whatever skin you want me to and perform whatever emoji you want to.

This is the ethical battlepass variation, but activision blizzard doesn’t really care about that and includes relevant game aspects to create more pressure on the player to buy the premium access.

According to the tweet explaining it, you can pick up previous battle passes at any point and grind out the hero you want on the free-tier. So the reality is that a new player in 2 years will be faced with half the roster grayed out.

They really didn’t think this one through guess it’s true what people have been saying for a while now the blizzard we grew up with is dead as they’ve become so out of touch with what their player base wants all they see is numbers.
