Doesn’t this go against their words at launch? Are we still pretending like OW2 is a standalone game, and not just a big patch?

I think there has been a missunderstanding when it comes to this “Free Battle Pass heroes”

It’s insane if the heroes are limited time only and I don’t think that’s the case. My guess is that free battle passes “when it comes to the hero part” are not limited time. My guess is that Overwatch will have a system similar to Valorant where you can unlock heroes by either playing the game for some time or by instantly buying them. In overwatch instantly buying them will instead mean buy the premium battle pass.

Later when the season is over the free Battle Pass part will still be in the game so that players who didn’t play at that time can still unlock the hero later but then needs to select the season battle pass or hero in the menu that they want to unlock and you do so buy playing the game and gaining xp similar to unlocking an agent in Valorant.

Too many people in this topic, who know nothing about business, keep thinking that good business means to continually screw over customers because the business always needs more money.

All these fake business people should do some reading so they understand what they’re actually talking about. Try looking into the “business social contract.”

Normal people don’t give a single **** if a business makes money or not. They care what value the business provides to them in return for their money. Therefore, the business should provide a great product/service FIRST, then the money flows after as a result of good work. Usually, businesses who screw over customers go out of business.

The anger we’re seeing is because the customers don’t believe they’re benefiting from this decision as much as they should. In fact, there are so very real concerns that diminish the gameplay.

I think Overwatch will make a system close to Valorant where you can unlock an agent with xp whenever you want too however you will also be able to unlock the character with a premium battle pass if you play the game that same season as the hero came out.
I’m not really a fan of this and think that every hero should be unlocked no matter how long you have played the game. Being able to play a character is one of the ways to understand it better so that you can test their abilities etc. If you have characters behind a lock where you have to grind the game it will take so much time to unlock heroes that I think will lose their interest of the game. Valorant don’t have that many characters and they are somewhat easy to unlock but I’m not fan of that system and will take a very long time to unlock heroes when the game is getting more and more ones.

I don’t think I’m anywhere near a doomer….I just loathe f2p…and I’m tired of it ruining games and being lied to

Dota 2. They have >100 heroes and none of them have ever been paywalled or behind a battle pass grind.

So as a support main, Im going to have to play hours on end to try the first new support in a really long time or pay some money for immediate unlock?

I dont know how battlepasses work to be honest I always thought they were a seasonal thing in games that unlocked costumes.

If the season ends and I didn’t unlock her that means I just can’t get her?

Literally the most Un Jeff Kaplan thing you can imagine.

Consumers expressing themselves…shocking news.

Just remember: Gundam 6v6 game looks to be great.

I don’t want to grind the battle pass because I ahve to, I want to grind it because there’s some fun stuff in it I want to get

Or maybe I want to be able to not care about the battle pass and still have access to the heros i want to play and play the way I want to

Either way, this will create an imbalance in your matches. Doesn’t matter if you bought the battle pass or not, your team is either going to have access to the new hero or not based on who paid for it

Did they even think about this for a second.

Overwatch is a game about changing your hero to match the situation. The whole design is to change to a hero which will counter the other team, not having a hero available is only going to be more damaging as time goes on.

My 2 cents as an original beta player with 2600 hours played. As somebody with a good amount of disposable income I purchased loot boxes almost every event and dumped a pile of cash into this game…because Papa Jeff and Team compelled me to do so and absolutely earned it. BTW, I stopped buying loot boxes when smurfing became rampant, and Blizzard did not address it (still happening).

If Pay and Free at any point in time have different gameplay/Heros this game would have lost its soul and sold out on its core design principles. These are principles that Blizzard put in place and sold to us and they have an obligation to uphold. But if it were to happen, I’d not only stop playing I’d make every opportunity to warn other players from playing it. I say this with 3 authentic OW statues on the bookshelf right next me and waiting to see Blizzard’s commitment to OW’s roots before I purchase the amazing new Rein statue.

We’re watching Blizzard!

Hell no. If the TF2 community “got over it” and didn’t do SaveTF2, we wouldn’t have killed most of the bots. We should peacefully object, protest, and refuse to spend cash outright until they make good changes.

You act like Blizzard/Activision would play by the rules. They haven’t done that in years.
