Would have much preferred actual content like maps and game modes instead of this. Just play vs ai if you want to learn the hero without being judged. They gave up pve for this?

Hero mastery is very useful.
Sometimes my system is slow when I first log on, and Hero Mastery gives me something inconsequential to do while it warms up like a reptile in the sun.

I’m honestly gonna agree with this one, even though this would probably count as a hot take.
Hero mastery is good for newer players that want to learn the basics of a hero, but the problem is that it isn’t sustainable other than the leaderboard.
When all of the courses drop, and nothing new happens and everyone stops playing, the only reason it would still be there is the new players.
I don’t hate the idea of new players being welcomed, but the tutorial fulfilled that for me. Also, why even bother with hero mastery when there are literal countless comprehensive beginner friendly guides to every hero?
If they really wanted to push its limits, make a hero mastery course for mechanics, like tracer blink pulse training, or Lucio surf maps that could get insanely competitive.

I like hero mastery, but I find it’s weird they have a scoreboard for every season when the courses are basically the same…

Hero Mastery is something that should’ve been in the game since 2016. Better tutorial systems catered to each hero have been needed for a long time.

I am really surprised that some of you enjoy it. I turned it on once for Tracer, did that 2 times and find collecting “monets” really boring

I mean it target the speed runner type of people. I like it because it’s a good way to practice your aims and learn some new tricks with ther characters.

That is not at all how computers work. Your system is at it’s most performant when cold.
If your system is slow after startup then I highly recommend opening up task manager and looking at what programs are set to open on startup.
You will probably find that a bunch of programs are running processes in the background that are slowing down your system after startup. Many of them being unnecessary programs that you never use.

Hero Mastery is more about memorization & muscle memory than pure skill. The people at the top of the leaderbords spent many hours practicing/refining their hero mastery runs to get the top score.

honestly yeah hero mastery was incredibly pointless and couldve gone towards so many other things like maps or heroes
or even, pve? remember that?

they just keep adding random pointless features no one cares about instead of building upon actually decent content
the pve was actually pretty good, not at all worth the price, but good for what it was
now there’s just a sad mission tab next to the sad arcade tab

Yes, and I would have preferred a solution to world hunger and a cure for cancer instead of Hero Mastery courses. Doesn’t mean not adding the latter would have actually addressed the former.
Those courses are quick to make and cheap to produce, relative to the content you think they’re replacing.
