Hero mastery is a waist of dev time, and here is why

Hear me out. You are a new player, and you have fun with ur friends in qp so you want to go try out ranked because you feel the competitive itch.

So you honorably get owned like the newbie down to your appropriate rank where you start learning.

If you want to get better at the game, you are forced to go on YouTube and hope you find something useful, and not just some guy preaching counter picks to you.

We should have an actual ranked tutorial in this game that teaches you the fundamentals of corners and cover, and how you ult is best used to create an advantage in an otherwise even team fight.
I like it in concept (its like super smash bros break the target), but we have much more pressing matters to educate the general player bass on.
First fps? First moba? Overwatch will not help you, you have to go to youtube

Hero mastery vs a better tutorial system are completely two different things.

“Mastery” vs “tutorial”

I think want you want is a comp mastery.

Mini games that teach the fundamentals of a team fight. As a tank “what should you do”, as a dps… as a support…

The core principle issue. Blizzard and ow don’t want to teach this. They rely heavily on the community. They don’t want to teach “how to play tank” because then if someone breaks that mold for the worse, the community will get super toxic. Or at least that’s the fear. If it works, it works, but then now you have a viable way of doing something that’s outside the scored tutorial system.

I’ll add, it was a choice when there wasn’t any competition… now all those [most] folks they relied on jumped ship.

Here are my credentials on the matter:

Also found this nugget which led to self-heal but keeping on topic I’ve been asked about a better tutorial system. I agree with you OP!

Here was the response when I mentioned a better tutorial system.

Here’s a self-heal gen Easter egg back in 2020:

They aren’t credentials. They are just things you said before that may have coincidentally happened.

If you throw enough sh…t at the wall, eventually something will stick.

It’s all sh t until it sticks. I realize mine doesnt stink more or less than anyone elses. So not exactly sure why your highlighting mine, unless you think yours smells less…

Please note, yes OP has requested this, but yes I feel very deeply about tutorials. I can bring up your credentials about how you think that would spoon feed the community and would ultimately be negative.

Your not wrong. Im kinda of attention grabbing with the title now that i take another look at it.

Im just sick of playera not understanding that their damage player only got 2 kills because our reinhardt ran to the point every fight instead of clearing the enemy ashe off high ground.
Then the same ignorant tank starts trash talking you for having bad stats when he is just lost and confused.

Playing Rein on Gibraltar is like bringing a snowmobile to the desert

Anyone who uses stats mid game to flame people is a (instert word you can’t use).

Simple as.

But some tutorial, that adapts to how your playing to show you what you should consider as you’re playing would be good.
