Hero Concepts before any Overwatch 2 announcements: Lynx Seventeen and Junker Queen

Another hero concept before any announcements are made for Overwatch 2.

Hero: Seventeen

Real Name: Linx Seventeen

Role: Control (Defense)

Country of Origin: Russia

Difficulty: Medium

Health: 200 (+25% shield of the last person you’ve disabled)

Primary Fire: USAR (Ultrasonic Assault Rifle) (A slow firing weapon that collects data from every attack. Damage: 30 (Unable to headshot) Ammo: 15 APS: 1.25)

Abilities: Cooldowns work slightly different for Lynx. All of your abilities share their cooldown and you can hold up to 5 charges at a time. You can use 4 charges without consequence, but if you use 5 charges then the cooldown will reset and add an extra 3 seconds. Cooldown for all abilities: 5 (8 seconds if all have been used.)

Pounce (Launch into the air directly where you are facing. Distance: Up to 23 metres)

Disable/Enable (Dash towards an enemy and remove a certain ability. If you use it on an ally, it will remove five seconds from a certain one of their abilities. If no other options are available, you can give teammates ult charge. Cooldown is not activated until the round starts. Enemy abilities will be removed in this order: Ability 1, Ability 2, Secondary Fire, Primary Fire. Allies will receive abilities in this order: Primary Fire, Secondary Fire, Ability 2, Ability 1, 1% Ult Charge. Casting: .3 Duration: 4)

Ultimate: Confabulate (Using this will reset any teammates’ abilities, and ammo in the vicinity and boost ult charge by 20%.)

Passive: Data Collector (If you collect enough data from the hero by attacking them, you can fire a round of their gun by switching weapons. Those who have infinite ammo will give you a specific amount of ammo to work with. Press secondary fire to cancel. Damage: Same as enemy’s damage Ammo: As much as the enemy’s ammo, unless it’s a gun with infinite, then… Hanzo: 8. D. Va: 30 Reinhardt: 6 Brigitte: 12 Moira: 60 Duration: Time it takes to unload the weapon + 25%)

Playstyle: If it weren’t for 2-2-2 Linx would probably be a support, but he doesn’t heal. He’s honestly more of a support than a DPS. Linx is good for immediately nullifying enemies as the first ability he takes out is their movement ability, and unlike Sombra’s hack, it’s instantaneous. If you are to play him correctly, it is all about cooldown management. If you were to spam all of your disables at once, you’d waste other opportunities as the disable only lasts for a short period of time. If you manage your abilities, they serve as an amazing utility.

Hero: Queenie

Real Name: Queenie Gadstein

Role: Support

Country of Origin: Australia

Difficulty: Medium

Health: 250

Primary Fire: Weaponized Boomerang (Throw a high damage boomerang that attacks from the front and from behind. (Front Damage: 50 Back Damage: 25 Ammo: 5 APS: .5)

Abilities: Remote Explosion (Set down an igniter and then place up to 3 mines. To ignite, the player must return to the ignitor and interact. The ignitor can be destroyed, therefore rendering the mines completely useless. (Max Damage per Mine: 90 Cooldown: 16 Cooldown)

Queenie’s Club Full O’ Surprises (If struck by a player, it will instantly heal them, as well as give them a random positive condition status, HPS+ Speed+ Defense+ Attack+. If the club strikes an enemy, it damages them and gives them a random negative status, whether it be a status affect like Speed- or Attack- or a form of crowd control like knockback, stun, or even frozen or hacked. Damage: 60 HPS: 100 Cooldown: 8 Boosts: 120%)

Threaten (Force an extremely wounded player back into the fight. (as in resurrecting your teammate) The resurrection is instantaneous but only leaves them with a quarter of your health. Cooldown: 30)

Ultimate: Biosplosion (Place a miniature warhead that quickly explodes before anybody can destroy it. Once it explodes, it instantly heals any teammate anywhere to max health and boosts any health per second for five seconds, along with antiing every enemy for 5 seconds and damaging anybody in its radius. HPS+: 150% Damage: 100.

Passive: Role Model (The more you are on-fire the more healing you give while healing half to yourself. You can gain fire from kills and healing using abilities. You cannot gain fire from your passive. Your passive is universal, meaning no matter where you are you will gain health from the passive. Anybody nearby Queenie will have a 15% Damage reduction. After 8 seconds of stagnation your fire will drop along with your healing. Queenie is the only hero in the game whose fire will reset after death. You do gain health from our passive, though it’s a very small amount. HPS: 0.5 per 15 fire. Max of 15. (Self heal is 50% of team heal))

Playstyle: Opposite to Lynx, Queenie plays more like a DPS than a healer, and should play like one to gain fire so she can activate her passive. Her club’s cooldown is relatively short and should be used as much as possible. Giving the enemy a form of CC is a lot rarer than giving them a normal stat debuff, it should be used as much as possible. Her role is to support the team by dealing with the enemies.

these sound incredibly broken!
lynx would just be a much better sombra, and their weapon swap thing will never happen because of the animation work.

queenie has at least 1-2 abilities too many, and her random club effect will never happen either because it is random.

i like some aspects about them though:

  • the shared cooldown thing, on principle
  • lynxs ultimate, depending on the exact numbers
  • the boomerang weapon

Yeah, I knew it was too much. Thought might as well make them flashy, unique, game-changing and FUN rather than mediocre and forgettable. These have been made for quite a while, and let me tell you they were a LOT worse. Lynx used to be able to just give a buttload of ult charge from a specific ability and the shared cooldown wasn’t an idea I came up with until right when I posted this. And Queenie used to be able to STUN with her primary fire. I was a younger man back the I tell ya h’wut.

lol well i personally appreciate flashy and unique kits, at least theres more to discuss about them than “here is big tank with hammer” or “here is shooty mc gunface”.
are your current iterations busted? sure. but can they be turned into something wonderful? extremely sure!

Just taking a moment to point out that Lynx Seventeen would prefer you to use gender-neutral pronouns (they/them) as indicated by (at the time) lead writer Michael Chu. https://twitter.com/westofhouse/status/913250509124857856?lang=en

Can provide feedback on fantasy, kit, and abilities but the character’s gender identification is an important detail to get right.
