It proves that people don’t care about winning anywhere near as much as they say they do and that they don’t understand the game at all. At least from Diamond and below.
Normal things I see people doing with their bans…
Banning heros that are not good in general or a counter to anything.
Banning heros that are bad on that map
Banning heros that are bad against their chosen hero (or teammates)
On top of that it is normal to see people not react in any way to obvious bans to prevent counters even when I tell them what is about to happen.
“omg the matchmaker”, “my teammates stink” and “the game is forcing me to lose” really becomes funny when I watch you and your buddies ban Mei and Zarya on junkertown and then try to play Pharah into a bunch of snipers.
I just came back to the game after basically not playing at all for over a year. Stuck me in gold on all roles and I have been slowly climbing back up to plat/diamond matches but the stuff I see constantly is mind blowing.
Had an alt account that I wanted to play and learn heroes that are still not on the same level as my main heroes and to get it to my main elo and the stuff I saw man was absolutely laughable and ridiculous.
Had Orisa players banning Hog and Rein then get melted by Zarya. (Plat)
Had Pharah players banning Sym and Junk (I still want to believe they did it to troll and were not serious, because I refuse to believe that kind of stupidity exists) (Plat)
Had an Ana player banning Hog on Numbani then proceeded to position on point on defense open to literally everyone then yelling at the team for not peeling against Mokey/Dva and hitscans. (Plat)
Not to mention obligatory Sombra bans every single game while leaving Freya and Sojourn open. I swear that those elos do not deserve hero bans.

Like yeah, people below Masters don’t know strategy but like, why should they? There’s so much room to improve your own direct play, why bother with strategy? Strategy only really matters when you’re already very good at the game. So they’re gonna ban whoever they don’t feel like going against.
Exactly. If the ban phase goes bad in Mahvel, I am definitely practicing my advanced Black Panther combos. I am not going to try my best for idiotic teammates. To be fair, the only ban I care about in this game is Sombra and that’s a guarantee anyways.
I play ball more than any other hero. Top played by a little since OW1… I never ban sombra. When i see a tank pick ball and then try to ban sombra i prep myself for a bad game.
