Hero Bans have destroyed my desire to play this game. Why get excited for new characters when, if they’re strong, they’re just going to get spam banned? Why get better at any character at all when people can just recognize you and ban your mains? Why buy cosmetics when you can’t play with them? I don’t want to be a part of such a project; so, I’m uninstalling Overwatch 2.

Yes, I play almost exclusively comp in all the PvP games I play.

Only broken heroes will be banned.
And for targeted bans, it can be solved quite easy. Do the map picks and bans first then see IDs. It will do no damage to your comp experience.

Not only broken heroes, 4 per match every match. Nearly 1/10th of the roster gone. Goodbye strategy hello easy wins to bots who can’t escape a tracer.
So it is settled that 2 heroes per side will be banned? If only 2 in total will be fine.
And do not exaggerate the strategy in ranking. Most people only play on their own.
Blizzard have to understand that the power of Overwatch is the HEROES. And how people relate to them. OW needs more lore, background stories and cinematics, not Hero bans. That’s why Jeff was always against the idea of hero bans, you’re supposed to BE the hero, not use it as a action figure.
There will be many players that will just leave the game if his hero get banned, or will just troll the match. I play just a few heroes, if they get banned + my teammate grabs the other, I’ll just leave that match saving me the time of a certain defeat.
Even if I decided to play, it’s a match that was decided on the Hero ban screen, and that’s stupid.

There are broken Heroes, and Perceived broken heroes.
What the community perceives as OP often has the worst winrates.
If anything, the ban system will make a lot of players lose rank.
The way they are setting up bans, you basically have nothing to worry about as long as you are not playing one of the four heroes that will get banned every single game.
I can’t wait to see Ana, Cassidy, Widow, and whoever banned every game.
Please let Ana be banned every game…

It is 4 heroes total 2 max per role. All 10 players vote then the top 4 are banned from the match skipping any 3rd of the same role.
It’s basically ranked choice voting for 42 heroes pick 5. That means that they are going to deny just under 1/10th of all heroes per game. That means you have a 10% chance every time at any time to not be able to play play who you want. 1/10th of every counter you have and every main you have. You get 90% of the game.

I agree, it’s a horrible idea. It looks like I’ll be playing this game even less, or possibly just getting perma banned for leaving, because I’m not going to stay in a match where the characters I want to play are unplayable, lol.

Simple; to make money with cosmetics.
In liu of old Sombra holding back the wall of cancer that was Widow, Doom and Ball, I support hero bans, as the cancer now runs freely.
