Hero 29-30 Discussion thread

So I normally do these threads shortly after a hero’s reveal but I have kinda been lagging behind on it. I TRULY believe and hope that we will be getting two heroes this Blizzcon to round the roster at 30 heroes. We are severely lacking behind Paladins /s.

Disclaimer: Any “but we just got Hammond / balance the game before more heroes” people, leave now. No one wants to hear this, ever.

So lets jump into the realm of possibilities we have as heroes now:

The Big Ones

These characters in my opinion have the largest chance of showing up this Blizzcon, as Blizzcon is usually a fan demand or a heavily requested character mechanic / role wise. This time around I really believe there are only 2 likely candidates to meet this position:

  • Junker Queen - We’ve now seen the Queen in full color nearly a year after we first saw her poster and heard her voice. She’s ultra apparent in Wrecking Ball’s story and could be similar to how the segway to Orisa and Doomfist were. Aside from that, the Queen has also been heavily requested since her debut. Could be very fitting for another Damage character, but with hopefully a more defensive role.

  • Sanjay - The Talon Tank people have been asking for a while now. That’s right, Tank. We may have gotten one with Hammond, but Sanjay is with Talon and that exosuit in Moira’s trailer has still yet to be seen. Still convinced its for Sanjay. He can fit another unique tanking role that makes him incredibly different than the others, unlike some who can just “take the others place” in terms of composition. Would love if he can be a Tank/Support hybrid in some sense, providing massive AOE heals with a risk of his cooldown one of the larger ones in the game.

The Other Guys

In terms of other characters, I don’t quite see them being added just yet, not in terms of the Blizzcon release, but we can still very well see:

  • Lynx-17 - I feel at this point Lynx is a curveball character. We haven’t seen them in a bout a year, so seeing them now could be a neat surprise
  • Emre - The biggest name drop of 2018 during Brigitte. Moira was a huge “wtf” moment for Blizzcon, yet she was in the shadows ever since Doomfist’s comic. Could the same happen to Emre this time?
  • Mama Hong - Have our prayers been finally answered? Will the beloved Mama Hong finally see the light of day? It would be great!
  • Athena - I feel at this point in time, Athena would be a good candidate to actually drive the story going. Think about it. She has the location of all past heroes still alive around the globe. She most likely has a database with tons of information about them. Bring my AI program in the game in her badass design seen so long ago!
  • Talon Tank / Assassin - Just really cool concepts I’d love to see make it into the game for realz.
  • Dae-Hyun - A newcomer to the Overwatch universe! Only issue is that he essentially holds the same premise for joining like Brigitte did with Reinhardt! He could be our first main healer thats a male! That would be wonderful!

The Unlikely Peeps

  • Sven - While he was a good candidate in the 28 spot, I think the window of him entering is very small at the moment. Would be cool to see another builder type hero. Could even be a healer if he has healing drones.
  • Jetpack Cat - Like Sven, would’ve been good at the Hero 28 spot, and with Hammond in we’re bound to see JPC at one point, but I think not at Blizzcon
  • The Woman from Ana’s photo - Highkey feel like we’re not gonna see her unless we see some kind of story with her in it.
  • Maximillien - I would rather prefer him and Sanjay go together at Blizzcon, however with the Retribution event giving him an icon already, I feel like Max might be waiting a little longer to be revealed.
  • Leonarda / Petra Archaeologists - Just don’t think either of them are have a chance just yet

Other Mentions

  • Emily - I could see her being a DPS Support hybrid in someways. Brigitte was in plenty of sprays before her inclusion, and now Tracer has one for Emily
  • Soundquake - Just sounds like a really cool tank concept
  • Fusionator - Name drop that may see the light of day one of these days
  • Fio + Ray - Pilots of the Blackwatch and Overwatch ships respectively. Would be interesting to see what they can do there.

What do you guys think? There could always be a hero that we have never seen before, but I have my doubts. Only pre-established characters will be making it in until we run out of them.

Honestly at this point I’m not excited about any future hero until this god forsaken game is fun to play

I just want the devs to have fun instead of trying to add problems and solutions. WB and Doomfist were both made for no ulterior purpose, just to be fun heroes. and they’re some of my absolute favorites.

i say make fun heroes, then let US figure out where to use them, instead of making straightforward heroes for a purpose

Yes OP because freaking meme characters like Emre (it was just a name lmao and an ugly one at that) and Mama Hong (seriously?) have a higher chance to get in when compared with actual people that matter like MAXIMILLIEN and SVEN, characters with lore/background (more than dva lol), attidudes/personalities, with literally character designs and places in the story already made/decided upon.

This list is so biased and designed to sway forum opinion you didn’t even mention LIAO.

I’d rather have an omnic character like Maximilian, then another cliche tough female like the Junkertown Queen.

Okay here’s my 2 cents:

The more we post lists on the forums saying we EXPECT a certain hero the more likely we are to get the hero in the near future and I’ll leave it at that.

Next Hero needs to be a Male Skateboarding Dog. He’s a dps and functions similarly like Lucio with his wall ride.

His backstory is that he’s Lucio’s dog who felt ashamed of himself because he couldn’t keep up with Lucio’s crazy speed. So he wished upon a star and was granted A high-tech skateboard so he could play with is master.

When the revolution came around Lucio weaponized his dog by mounting some sort of Gun to his back.

He’s still a dumb dog though so he only fights along with whoever his handler is.

Probably a tank of some sort, some sort of complementary feature to Roadhog for a change. As it stands, Roadhog is lookin a bit lonely.

I want Lynx-17 and Maxmillen the most. I feel there’s some interesting concepts to be done here. Lynx-17 could be the support Your Overwatch wants Sombra to be, and Maxmillen is a blank slate. (Though the playing card stuff I’ve seen seems real cool)
