Here Why Marvel Rivals will overtake Overwatch

on marvel rivals discord there info that this game only has been develop for roughly 1 year, it allready feels fantastic for 1 year development

(overwatch 1 takes 4 year development with also using asset from titan which is 5 year in development)

it started development when overwatch was removed from china netease partner

for everyone dont know netease was overwatch publisher in china up until jan 2023
then they just renew it again like few months ago, but overwatch has been unplayable for china for nearly 1 year

so in absence of overwatch they tried to make their own “overwatch”

I pray for anybody to make a better version of this game

Funnily enough, we once had something better

It wasn’t perfect, but it was WAY better than this

The game was called Overwatch and Blizzard took it away from everyone who paid for it.

It seems a little premature to say it. I mean, Overwatch has taken years to meet its own needs over the course of updates, such as managing many more heroes than it had at the start. When it was just released (and today is also its true anniversary) it had 21 heroes with the defender class which wasn’t exactly very defined in its role… and literally only 3 healers.

Rivals is still in the testing phase, but while it has the data collection advantage of Overwatch… it still has a very small roster to manage. The real difference will be seen in how it will manage the flow of features that it will add over time, which is exactly what made Overwatch go through the best and worst times.

that is a contractual factor due to Mr. Kotick in the masrketing department, it has nothing really to do with the development of Overwatch itself.

… well, it’s not like they exactly had to make an effort to create a storyboard of the characters or maps to use, they are literally an expansion of a pre-existing franchise. like Marvel snap (an hearthstone clone but marvel heroes). “hey disney, can I use these marvel characters and save time developing 100% new characters?”

What kinda sucks is that, from what I can see, this move usually doesn’t work. Blizzard got lucky. I’ve seen several games on Steam that have tried to pull what Blizzard did before them, and it ended up horribly. They didn’t get enough f2p players and all the people who payed for the original got pissed, left a negative review and quit the game. Eventually they lost enough players the servers were shut down.

It honestly sucks that Blizzard got lucky like this, because it could have gone a very different way.
