Helixjump underutilized?

i just don’t get it, with this trick you can do sick things, but it’s really rare to see someone uses it
why people underutilize helixjump?

for thouse who dont know, helixjump is a rocketjump of soldier 76 with helix rockets

Because it takes skill to use it effectively. You don’t just press E and things happen.

Yea, but it’s preaty easy if you know basics of rocketjump in tf2…
Besides, soldier’s sprint is kinda underutilized as well. with bit of effort it can be used to dodge bullets in same way as lucio using his wallride

Utilizing Helix jump well requires skill and a lot of practice so only high-ranked players could fully benefit from it. However at Master+ Soldier’s is now somewhere between Symmetra and Mei so almost no good players actually play Soldier.

The move itself is rather easy to pull off, but I cannot see most anywhere in the map where its super beneficial at all. Plus, you impose +40 damage on yourself that cannot always be healed off easily. With Pharah, you rocket jump into the sky and Mercy cna see you most anywhere on the map by that point to come heal you up.

Plus, you wasted 8 seconds of S76’s burst potential for what I would call minimal positional gain.

I don’t use it because it’s too awkward to time. Unless I can nail it >90% of the time, I don’t want to waste a 120 damage CD on knocking myself out of position and having to shuffle back up the stairs in shame.

Also, 120 damage.

i feel like it’d be a waste of a good burst damage ability to use it in certain situations just to get to a different position.
before a fight or between fights to reposition, sure. but it seems like a lot of spots you can access arent much better. high ground often leaves you exposed to a degree and being lower can sometimes be more beneficial for use of cover to play around.

well it might be good idea to get in close range to hero, that cornerpick on high ground
yea, 120 burst is a lose, but if u can’t play without it, than you probably play wrong

I always fail using it effectively. Otherwise it’s neat to use if you want to hop up on high ground.

Because you’re waiting to shoot it at that flankers feet, not your own.

its good when you’re trying to escape or setup on defend but other than that meh

you’re damaging yourself and you probably need the helix for something else

In a fight, you’d rather hit the enemy with your rocket, since you only get one.
For positioning, are there really that many locations you need it for? I’m not sure.

PS: new symmetra (HYPE) will reduce the need for it further.

it can be used to get in the flank
also, you can do a point blank Helixjump to escape enemy or confuse him
