[Health Concern] Screen flickering

Putting it in Technical support and hopefully it can be solved.
My specs: 5600X + 6700XT and 32GB RAM
With 1 monitor in 1080p60 and another in 3440x1440@144Hz

Whenever I launch OW2 and as long as I am NOT in a game there is a constant flicker in the screen (kind of like PWM on bad monitors that cannot regulate their brightness via dimming) It’s very noticeable and even when I am NOT looking at the screen directly.
It’s not very much of a concern when the menu screens are dark (like the recent Sigma one with the black skin) but when it’s bright/white it’s here.

As soon as I get in a game the issue is gone 100% until I’m back on the game menu.

Should be noted that I’ve played games for over 25yrs now and have zero epilepsy adjacent issues but this is triggering me so much I feel nauseated after a gaming session (which is several games with a lot of time waiting for queues). So now I have to tab out of a game and wait for the queue notification (which I hope I don’t miss) else I get sick as described above…

As many of you know the game will go to max fps (or as max is defined) during games only. In menus it caps at 60 (which is fine except for this)

I also play other games incl WoW that often are around 60fps ish with no such issues.

Drivers are all updated. I hope there’s a solution to this even if it’s 'add this config parameter to fully disable the menu background graphics.

Thanks

Not sure this will help you, but just in case…

I have one of those 144 Hz freesync monitors that are prone to flickering when the fps fluctuates. I was able to eliminate the flickering by turning on vsync.

Capping the fps alone (in Ow options) reduced the flickering but didn’t eliminate it for me. Using Radeon Chill reduced flickering (with min==max==144), but didn’t eliminate it either. For me, having in game vsync enabled is the silver bullet.

Fyi, I have a dual monitor setup, one running at 75Hz, the other at 144. Both are 1080 res. Also using an Amd Radeon VII GPU.

Thanks. I’ll try that if only to confirm it helps. I would not be satisfied that this is a solution though since all other games work without with flicker.

Btw I noticed that after a game there is still no flicker in game menu until I go click on another app making OW2 out of focus. It’s so bad that I need to go sleep it off to get back to normal (which is annoying when you have limited free time)
