Hazard; Lets discuss. Pros and flaws

Hazard is the new tank hero. After roughly 7 or 8 rounds with him, I can effectively make notes of my feedback

PRO: Fun. He is high mobility, high skill, and just overall fun to play. His design itself is great

CON: He is very support reliant I’ve noticed. You need support players with brains to heal you a lot. In part due to the recent changes to armor, and also due to the fact he cannot heal or fully block damage himself (ie a shield like rein its more like a block, like rams)

PRO: He can tank a lot of damage. He can eat a lot of damage in the face, and he can block damage with his wall

CON: He’s very vulnerable to CCs ie sleep, spear, and ofc hack.

PRO: He has high potential to be able to peel for his supports since his leap is 15-24 meters depending on where u aim it

CON: Pressing his leap ability and hitting a ledge causes it to cancel the leap ability, making it so you cannot slash.

PRO: Great voice actor. Genuinely fun to listen to.

CONS: Why is his hello the exact same as maugas?

Suggestions: I’d give him some way to heal himself. Maybe when his orbs strike on his block each one heals for X amount but his damage reduction is reduced. Or give him some way to fully block damage/CCs. The difference between him and ball/doom is he isnt as mobile as ball and doom are, still very mobile but those two heroes can instantly dive a support when they burn their CC, all the less mobile tanks have some way to block it or stop the CCs, give hazard one. Other than that, great job blizzard. This hero is so well done, I tip my hat

I dont really like his ice block thing -get rid of that and give him another attack that adds hp or armor or something to get some hp back. Hes fun to play but youre right that he is way too support reliant to survive.

His ult is pretty meh

Good, he has constant high mobility, and damage mitigation with good damage and a good ult.

Absolutely not. It would be incredibly stupid to give to a character like him and ruin the game for anyone who wasn’t a tank.

I think it’s refreshing that his survival isn’t based around self-healing or overhealth. Seriously hoping they don’t go and add any of that to him in later updates. I haven’t had a TON of experience playing him yet, but he actually feels pretty survivable to me. My losses on him usually just felt like the usual feeding and teamwork issues on the part of my randoms, not necessarily like I myself was struggling to do anything

I’m sure some of us know the feeling. When we’re definitely doing something, it’s just that we can’t do everything. Nor SHOULD a hero be able to “do everything” to that extent, so that’s not exactly an issue with the hero

Really the only thing I’d change is either for his wall to do bonus damage and/ or root on direct hits or buff his ability damage against rooted targets.

I notice they specifically made his gun suck at killing Ana (small hitbox). More Ana favoritism. Why do I care? Well, whenever I play tank nobody else cares enough to do what needs to be done to win… That is kill the healers canceling all damage. Most of the time I’m the one diving enemy supports as whatever tank I happen to be playing.

I don’t think self sustain really fits his current kit design. Ball is more commitment based if he actually wants to do more than harass and has a big gambit for getting a thick enough shield/barrier to stay and fight.

Doom’s sustain is tied to an ultimate and he has a much tighter execution to do meaningful damage than Hazard does. Hazard has more forgiveness and flexibility so self sustain would be out of band power balance wise.

Iceblock is his best ability you can literally stand on roifs using it not even doomfist can

His mobility isnt that high compared to other heroes that dont have tools to stop CCs. That is why in my opinion he needs a way to stop CCs, unless this is a hero built specifically for 6v6

The only thing I can’t stand about his playstyle is the jump and hold move he’ll do to you when you play against him

By that I mean he leaps at you, swings, then holds guard to auto aim you down and if you play a low mobility hero then it feels like there’s no counterplay. It’s a low skill tactic with massive reward and I’ve never been a fan of those parts of the game in general

I guess I’m just a little bitter about people saying “don’t stand close to him” when HE’S the one getting close to me and I can’t get away :sob:
