Turns the whole game to 1v5. You try to heal him you end up dead, you try to dive with him you end up dead, you stay back you end up dead. And unlike Hog, he can hardly get a kill.
How is you dying balls fault?
The thing that gets me is when he is constantly avoiding your heals all game, gets to critical 1hp and then rolls over to you expecting you to be on your knees ready to service him (I am aware how dodgy that sounds but I have no other way to word it).
They always roll over to you last minute, get hit by a speck of dust (which kills them), and then either spam āI need healingā while dead, or type something toxic in chat.
They have to play to learn, and everyone else at your rank is just as likely to have that player on their team as you.
iāve been saying this forever. as much as ball players love to huff and puff about sombra, they all conveniently forget that to the rest of us they are literally the (pre rework) sombra of the tank category.
playing with them is an endless loop of having your tank engage and disengage from the fight whenever they want to, they leave you with no frontline and let the enemy tank run in at your squishies for free kills and only ever return to grace your team with their presence when they want to demand healing from your supports who are already working overtime to keep each other and the dps alive against the damage that is no doubt freely flying their way.
Yes, good ball players know how to create chaos in a way that is averting the enemies attention but generally, most ball players are not good.
Know your distancing you donāt need to dive with the ball you can play ranged hitscan and kite the enemy team while he makes openings/forces cooldowns. The ball shouldnāt need to ferry around the team as a meatshield because people donāt know when to hold w or hold s.
The solution is obvious: you play tank then. Then its no worries, you play exactly who you need, exactly as well as you need to win.
Seems simple enough. Why doesnt everyone do that? Be the better tank and easy Wās.
Maybe thereās nuance to this and its not that simpleā¦
Naw every game is always a tank diff. Ggs
At least in other roles, I may have a slight chance of fun.
Thatās the gameplay loop of Ball though, you live gobbling up all the megas because most of the time youāre deep in enemy lines. Unless you get an Ana or maybe a Zen, you SHOULDNāT be getting healed because itās not feasible. Too many times Iāve seen Mercy dash to me or Kiriko TP to me only to be deleted on the spot because most of the time Iām NOT in a good position for other person rather than myself.
The pit stop is perfectly normal when there is a slowdown on the teamfight or you canāt get to the megas. If the Ball is rolling to their supports in 1hp that means it did good distracting/baiting CDs for the rest of the team to capitalize on, and made it out alive.
You just have to predict where heās going and how heās engaging/disengaging. Personally I love diving with ball on support. Heās probably my favourite tank to play with.
In short? No frontline. Next useless and obvious question.
so it become a 2 v 5 and yet you both die leaving team 3 v 5?
No Not necessarily.
doom and ball just need to go to dps. Both are completely useless as tanks.
You might win. But even then, itās still an L.
a good ball can hard carry. shame most of them are not good.
I have more chances to find a dragon outside my window
As a Ball mainā¦
Donāt spend your time trying to heal me. Iāll come to you when itās safe, and Iāll use health packs.
This is why traditionally, the supports to play with Ball are Brig Zen. Now itās probably more Kiri.
Pity that when you do your things I donāt have any frontline peeling, sure I can use walls, but sometime gotta peek to fire.
Ball is there to disrupt the enemy to make it easier for the rest of the team. He does not require heals when he is doing that, and only when he disengages does he need health. If your dps canāt do anything with the disruption he causes, the Ball is not the problem.
Then you play the map differently. Donāt blame the Ball if you donāt adapt.
