if you care that much about rank you may want to step away from it.
at the end of the day its just a game, there is no reason it should be having such an effect and if it is you need to ask yourself if its worth it.

Could be said for any luxury in life. Yet people cry for those all the time.
Someone gives you a little dent in your car and people go ballistic, in reality scratches to your car and small dents aren’t going to affect anything really, it’s all aesthetic just like the little number in the game.

Bad game w/ Bad Infrastructure affects Minds & Health of Their players…
For me it’s like being told over and over again that you’re not good enough. Cards stacked against you, and you can give it your all, but it’s never gonna be enough.
All this negativity fueled by Toxic Community that will rip you apart and demoralize you regardless of any good deeds or plays.
Sympathies OP - Maybe at the end of all this it’s a practice in mindset after all; we can’t change the game, and maybe it is working as intended - even if it sucks.
This environment is suffocating and it’s hard not to be swept away by the always present Voice that says “you’re not enough” but there’s space for acceptance and peace.
Players deserve better.

Players did this to themselves.
It’s not like when you lose a game you get a giant YOU LOSE, NOOB! or when you die a nice red YOU DIED when you get killed (like some other single player games that can be quite tilting at times 
).
The players are toxic to each other, not the game and you can see it everyday here on the forums by how many “teammates bad”, “smurfs and cheaters stole my lunch” or “If you don’t play as I want then uninstall” threads are created.
I suppose what made the OP react that way (which I completely understand, I cried for far less in my life 
) are the incredible stakes the community as a whole puts on keeping/increasing your SR which literally doesn’t make sense: we are playing Overwatch not Skill Rating: The Game.

You know, this kind of comment from people all over the forums in some shape or form is actually the toxic element in Overwatch.
