Sorry, I want emerald weapons. I don’t care about my rank, and now that you don’t even need to win to get comp points I’m not even going to treat it any differently than quickplay. Have fun putting up with dozens of players like me flooding the comp servers next year

I dont get it, emerald weapons look lazy and bad, not gonna lie
Some skins should be linked to specific ranks and requiring x number of games played instead of this system.

They said it was work in progress. Early stage. Then again, we saw the final release for rank icons… so they might not get any better.
That was a problem with OW1 too. Definitely going to be more of an issue in OW2.
Pretty lame you can’t get them outside of comp but luckily for me the emerald weapons look bad lol. Reminds me of the guns those green plastic soldiers hold.
thats perfectly fine because you’ll be adjusted to the rank that level of play belongs at.
unless of course if you intentionally tryhard a few matches then start throwing, thats a whole other problem lol

This is actually the optimal strategy. If you derank to bronze then you will be able to win matches more easily and get more competitive points. The only hard part would be not ranking back up.
You say this as if there aren’t people who manage to throw matches constantly by refusing to swap and nonsense like that and still miraculously stay at a high rank
if you arnt losing enough to drop out that means you are winning a few playing those heroes.
most of the stubborn players drop and thats what matters.
You know, they tried this in the early days of comp PvP/arena PvP in WoW, where you had to achieve and then maintain a certain rank to wear the PvP skins associated with that rank (within a few years this got changed to solely needing to achieve a rank in order to get access and then equip certain PvP skins i.e. you no longer had to maintain that rank in order to equip it in future). I’m all for having specific skins or even skin recolours for players that achieve certain ranks, but I believe I’m in the minority here given the fights going on in certain threads where people are against exclusivity and skins…

As a former rank 13 Warlord (on both my ice mage and paladin) and Gladiator/Wrathful Gladiator (3v3 and 5v5), I approve of this!

And you will likely derank to where that is not a problem and it will not matter which in turn will oddly enough make it harder for you to get Emerald weapons because you will have lost rank.
They made it that you no longer get end of season rewards based on rank, so you actually want to be at a lower rank if you’re attempting to farm comp points because then it is easier to win matches
Except if it “easier” the system is pretty good about realizing “hey he is intentionally throwing himself down for easy games… ban”. They are not quick with it but if you are trying to farm emerald weapons, spoiler it ends up with a ban. I have seen enough people who do that banned to know the end result.

It’s not against the rules to play competitive casually
Most people treat qp like comp so not sure the inverse would matter much and sooner or later your not trying would put you with like minded or equally skilled player. More people in comp even if they arent trying hard is a good thing for queue times.

Lol people already treat comp as quickplay and quickplay as comp anyway so I don’t see the issue
