From the big 5 man rez to the multiple single target resurrections in valkyrie, Mercy’s ability to bring teammates back from the dead has been very controversial and because of this, I believe the ability has been over-nerfed to the extent where it cannot compete with other abilities such as anti heal
Now I’m not saying valkyrie rez should come back, what i’m saying is ONE of these small buffs in my opinion should go through.
1) Cooldown reduced from 30 seconds to 25
I’m still confused as to how an instant cast ability that can stop all incoming healing is on a 10 second cooldown while a single target resurrect that takes 1.75 seconds is on a 30 second cooldown.
Keep in mind anti heal cool down keeps going while those 4 seconds of anti heal are still active so it’s more like 6 second cool down
This will be a nice change for resurrect to potentially be available faster and it’ll be more unified with immortality field’s 25 second cool down.
2) Activating Valkyrie grants one additional resurrect
Again having two potential resurrects available is a nice buff but the skill / timing /positing / game sense is still there when choosing who to resurrect and when (because of the cast time still being prominent in valk)
3) Cast time of resurrect is reduced from 1.75 to 1.5 seconds in Valkyrie
Self explanatory
Valk buffs everything in Mercy’s arsenal / kit other than resurrect which I do not think is fair.
You could say movement speed is a bonus but really I don’t count that as a direct buff to rez in valk
Reducing cast time would make it easier get a clutch but impactful rez off
4) The ability to self cancel resurrect and start a 15 second cooldown
Again I think only ONE of these buffs should go through because right now mercy’s resurrect is under powering when compared to Ana’s anti heal because of its restrictions and the fact that it was over nerfed during the end of moth meta.
These changes would just allow mercy to maybe be considered a viable pick over Ana because even with 55hps buff she is not really competing with Ana / moira for a spot on the team
Buffing resources slightly will help with this I feel
EDIT: also remember at the beginning of mercy’s rework mercy’s rez on a 30 second cooldown was INSTANT outside of Valkyrie initially too so it made sense for it to be on a 30 second cooldown
With the cast time and movement speed reduction (which makes so many possible resurrections too dangerous even think about) I think it’s fair to say that ability needs option number 1) A cool down reduction
No it wasn’t overnerfed, it was just balanced around high tier where resurrecting a teammate can be a time saver, defense saver and/or getting the carry back in the game of which all are quite valuable things
If she needs buffs then it’s something other than her rez
but the cast time is so long and mercy so vulnerable that all the enemies attention is on you so they’ll just walk over from whatever they are doing and boop you
Cause 30 sec cd is way too much for any ability. It´s time when some characters are able to gain their ults, but Mercy got this long cd for just ability. It should be at least shorter when you get interrupted. Also it´s not always my fault when someone sneaks behind me during the procces. There is nothing you could do really, ones you start to cast it.
I really don’t understand why people have such a problem with rez. With so may one shots in the game I don’t see why people complain about one single target rez on a long cooldown that can be CCd, knocked back, or killed while she goes through the cast time being too strong.
It could be interesting to give Mercy a cleanse ability instead of rez in her base kit and then have it turn in to a near/instant rez in Valkyrie. That way her base kit can be balanced around not having rez and would then fill a niche no other support has at the moment (being able to cleanse allies of anti heal, poison, and being on fire) while also being able to give more power back to rez now that it is tied to an ultimate again without people complaining that it is “an ultimate on e”
I understand. But there is few things that are almost as valuable with much shorter cd - Diva´s re- mech time, Baptist´s immortality field (and he is in no danger to be interrupted). Hell, even Torb´s turret is powerfull for such a short building time after being destroyed.
Well with resurrect its worse than other support abilities, since it requires the death of a teammate that couldve been prevented to even be used and most often the result is the mercy dying before getting the rez, the person she rezzes dying again, or what i see happen most often when a team is smart, is that the mercy rezzes, they kill the person she rezzed, and kill Mercy.
No other support ability results in a net loss like resurrect does.
the value you get from resurrect isnt from bringing someone back, its from what that person does. if resurrect just created another body that does nothing, it doesnt do anything.
