It’s been the same usual as always for me lately
Matchmaking hs the appearance of being worse quit often due entirely to the existence of the horrifically bad hero bans system
Team 1: player’s primary hero does not get banned
Team 2: player’s primary hero DOES get banned
The result being that Team 2 appears to be worse than it actually is
Hopefully, hero bans will be removed soon
Same here, every day , defeat defeat defeat , in all modes , only two wins per day , im tired matches me with bots ,brazilians ,other side , tryhards , know my possition ,like wallhack , aimbots ,instakill melee
Can’t say I have noticed any changes in quality when it comes to matchmaking. It feels as decent as it ever has to me. Though I don’t exactly pay close attention to its quality, since I don’t really care about it all that much ![]()
I’ve noticed it mainly in Stadium and even in Competitive Stadium occasionally. I can only assume that both modes are using the same matchmaking quality as quick play to reduce queue times.
Not just wonky, but typically worse match-making.
Ironically, my best matches in Stadium have been playing as Damage-role. I see far too few Supports actively healing their team or providing any real support outside of camping the tank, or frontlining (and often feeding) the enemy team.
Still, there are times where I see a lot of Supports playing aggressively and doing lots of damage and raking in lots of kills in Stadium, to the point I struggle to understand why the Tank and Damage roles… exist.
I’ve never experienced this. Most of my Quick Play games tend to be wins, consecutive wins, largely from me flexing into Tank. Recent games into Support - mostly Wuyang - have yielded far more substantial successes than I’ve had playing Support in prior games.
Damage-role tends to be up and down, current games for me, I’m averaging a 55% or more win rate here. Which is a bit high from my flexing back in OW1 (which used to average around a 51% to 52%).
I do have some really bad games, nothing where the Damage-role struggles to hit things, but mostly from very passive Tanks, and feeding and front-lining Supports that don’t heal, and don’t try.
To this end, my QP win rates are averaging as follows:
Tank - 63% to 68%
Damage - 53% to 55%
Support - 49%, though special mention to Wuyang sitting at 60% win rate.
Because I’m running mostly the newer heroes introduced into OW2, and not the older ones that I used to play a lot of, I can definitely note a stark decrease in MMR quality of matches. Most my matches with Zarya, Genji, Doomfist, and Baptiste remain strongly within the 49% to 52% win rates from OW1 with over 70 hours played on them.
MMR has definitely seen a decrease in quality matches and I’m carrying a lot more. I blame this on the MMR taking little time to find matches, the game getting old, and the Free-to-Play elements of the game constantly filling in newer players into my teams.
I haven’t noticed anything odd, other than the fact that we’re in Week 4 of the current season Battle Pass, and most players have completed it and shifted away from the game to other things.
Notably… Quick Play Stadium seems to have also divided up the playerbase and may have affected the MMR here. It’s hard to say for sure, but I do seem to get more competency in Quick Play Stadium over Competitive Stadium… weird that is.
Yin, you don’t need to correct me. I quite literally already said that.
It’s hard to say. This season I dropped to silver on support for the first time in OW2. Which was new to me since I’ve never deranked to silver on support in the entirety of OW2. But I figured maybe I just started playing badly because my 240Hz monitor broke and had to play the game on 60Hz with lots of input lag and screen tearing. It’s possible part of the reason why I dropped to silver was because of worse matchmaking quality. Thankfully I’m back to high Gold now though but it’s still weird how I had to start from silver in the first place after placements.
I’ve deranked on all roles by a solid 5 ranks, getting throwers in virtually every single one of my teams over the course of almost 400 games. I placed d1 on support, now its almost d5, just a slew of losses. D2 on dps, I deranked all the way to plat 3, then up to d5, almost all my teams is torbs junkrats people with 15-20 deaths per 10. Tank I have barely touched, placed d4, played a few games lost almost every one and immediately hit d5. Even worse about all this, is I’m getting a ton of “reversals” -30% especially on support role, where I’ll immediately queue into a team with 15+ deaths inting staggering feeding around LoS and playing into counter picks with no comms. The game expects me to carry on mercy a bunch of torb sym venture trolls with nearly 20 deaths, and enemy team is full of masters mmr players minimum.
Correction: Not just exceptionally lopsided, but typically worse matchmaking.
this season is extremely bad for hitscans that are anything other that tracer or cass tbh. splash and melee damage powercreep
Correction: Not just worse matchmaking, but exceptionally lobsided matchmaking.
Matchmaking is raw garbage
Its casusing the game to bleed players by the minute, and morons behind its code should get fired ASAP
I used to come on the forums and complain about the matchmaker over the years
I have been playing since season 1
I have never ever seen it this bad. I honestly think these people are using bots to farm the free skins or something.
Matchmaking would be a lot better if the terrible hero bans system was removed
Not worse than before in my case, but I’m a QP andy.
Strange how bad it is in QP then. Hero bans are not the answer to every problem in OW as you seem to think.
and yet, it has a huge effect on matchmaking in Competitive
Does is really? That is just a feeling or you have evidence for that? I would imagine more people like it than not because they can get games which are not against their hard counters more often. I can see 1-tricks being upset.
Matching Quality for this season is horrendous
So bad that I decided to leave a game or two
