I got a second account recently so I could rank up and create some videos about common mistakes in various ELOs and how to rank up by improving the lowest hanging fruit (I know this is not original). I haven’t played competitive OW in a long time so I was pretty rusty when I got back into it, and struggled a bit in high bronze/low silver, going 5-3 on the day. I got back into the groove on my 5th game and had fantastic stats (I think I was 52-3), primarily because I was tired of losing on the day and I played my best hero (Dva). After the game I immediately got my account banned. I never say anything in chat, I don’t teabag or intentionally target or grief anyone, I don’t use cheats, none of that.
Is it possible to get banned for having stats that are “too good” for the rank, or out of line with what your previous stats were on other games that day?
You get banned for no reason when a bunch of people decide to report you at once. it’s been proven repeatedly

Sure, I totally get that - but being banned for having others angrily report you for playing well is possible? I put in an appeal (no answer yet), but that seems like a crazy or unfair reason for getting banned.
i’m assuming there are no more GMs or maybe the role isn’t as ubiquitous as it used to be; so they went to a system that automates bans. Is it unfair? yes. Right now, it looks like an entire opposing lobby (just 5 people) can report you in the same window and it triggers a ban. Wev’e pointed this out to them many times but they wont confirm or deny it.

If they think you’re smurfing yes. And considering you were playing on an alt it’s not unreasonable for anyone to assume as much

Smurfing is not a bannable offense, though - and I solo queue only, so I’m not boosting or win trading.
Smurfing isnt’ called out as a bannable offense, but the whole impetus behind requiring a phone number per account was to reduce or eliminate people being able to smurf.
If people say it’s a reportable offense then it is regardless of what blizzard’s rules are
Some people consider smurfing cheating. If you’re going 53-3 in silver when your main is a higher rank than some people might say that it is. You might be able to contact support and get unbanned but regardless.
Yeah, totally get this - I’m only able to have additional accounts because I work for a company that does a lot of mobile SMS testing and I essentially have like 15 phone numbers.
check the email they sent you for the reason why you were banned, it may give you a clearer idea as to why. usually when that happens from what i have seen/heard is its for ‘cheating’ not saying you were, but if you were in bronze then it may appear that way to the enemy teams
It was “continued behavior deemed inappropriate” for the reason - but I know that’s not right because I don’t do anything other than play the game. No text chat, no voice chat, no toxic behavior. Seems I was just banned for mass reported from upset players on the opposite team.
when people report for toxicity like that, they should be required to screen cap or post the chat that they actually found offensive.
If its just “GG EZ” or “diff”…that should get them banned instead (for being so whiny that they get upset by that)
And QFT–but blizzard should NOT be automating actions as drastic as banning people.
