Hardware Based Cheating

Who is the worse cheater? Someone that uses aim assist with a controller on PC? Or someone who uses Keyboard and Mouse in console when it is forbidden? I don’t get all the PC heads complaining when they have an input that better uses muscle groups. Is this just sophisticated whining from average and below average players? Skilled PC players please represent, especially if you arn’t afraid of a worse input in your same league.

Easy.

Aim assist isn’t cheating.

Hardware emulation is.

It’s not the issue of playing with console users that have access to how they should have been able to play from the start.

The issue is playing with console users that have access to how they should have been able to play from the start, while they have the ability to opt out while PC players don’t.

TBH aim assisted controllers shouldn’t even be a thing on PC, if you’re on PC player M&KB, if you want to play controller buy a console, aim assist already ruined games like Apex, COD & Fortnite, hate to see it in a comp 5v5 game where every kill matters.

Ok, but why?

Pretty sure it wasn’t aim assist but buyable hardware scripting advantages like Cronus and Strike Packs, both of which don’t contribute much to how OW’s mechanics function.

The only game where AA does have an overt advantage is Halo MCC where AA is identical to what it was on console at the time of each game’s initial release.

Because it ruins games competitive integrity, see Fortnite & Apex

See above, it wasn’t Zen packs or anything like that, pros in Apex / Fortnite tournaments would swap to controller in close quarters because of how blatantly broken aim assistance was, if you’re on a certain platform you should use that default hardware of that platform when playing a competitive game, aim assist in every competitive game is always too strict or too lenient, no in-between.

It might not be cheating, but it’s a franchise-killing design choice.

Never ever ever mix input methods in an online shooter. Ever.

Fortnite and Apex are based upon randomly generated map loot, randomly generated spawn courses, randomly forced encounters, and team compositions you can’t predict to counter effectively, but I’m supposed to believe that aim assist is the deciding factor?

Pretty sure it is dude

Or enable full hardware use for all players.

I doubt very much the average player is going to be swapping inputs mid fight.

If you have some objective proof of the claim, I’d love to see it.

Within certain parameters sure, in casual gameplay interactions there’s really no issue, competitive gameplay interactions sure keep them separate.

And of course, players should have the ability to opt in and out of Crossplay as they desire, and have full access to input of choice as well. Nothing should be forced upon players without any choice.

I just had 3 out of 4 QP matches with console players in them. It’s unfun and it’s a mess. Why can’t the queue times be faster on a Saturday night 1 month after release (max hype)? Why can’t there be more than enough PC pool players to keep me far, far away from the console assist ?

You can’t use aim assist when using a controller on pc, you can however get a mouse and keyboard for the console and still have aim assist activated i think.

Then you should have the option to opt out, as I’m advocating for as we should all be advocating for.

I didn’t play a single crossplatform match this evening out of close to 25 matches, sometimes you just get unlucky.

It’s not in comp.
The aim assist in Overwatch is nothing like those games. It doesn’t even work the same way.

100% back this and have been asking for it since crossplat was a thing.

All the more reason to have none of it, then. Why bother with it. It’s either oppressive or it’s meaningless. Either way, take away the bloat. The odds they dial the aim-assist “just right” is like finding a magic number out of a set of 10 million. And even then it still breeds distrust and scapegoating. No place for it if pop >25million as they have communicated.

You crybaby console players throwing fits because you dont get aim assist on PC, is bringing your xim users, who you all call cheaters by the way, over to PC with their KBM AND aim assist.

Keep your garbage on your side of the river, stop polluting ours.

Back before devs didn’t coddle gen z noobs that cry if they don’t win, aim assist was just slow down when your crosshairs get close to a target. You still had to aim. Now days aim assist literally tracks for you. You can take hands off controller set it on the table and if someone walks in front of your cross hairs it will literally move your aim and follow the target. This is why pc players hate aim assist cause its not aim assist anymore, it’s a 60% aim bot.

I have no idea how overwatch aa works but this is how it works in halo infinite, warzone, Apex, basically all the modern shooters. Also good controller players have proved they don’t actually need aa to compete with mkb. It’s a crutch for noobs.

Buddy do you even understand the irony of your post? You should really make friends with a console gamer.

isn’t it gross that shooter games shoot for you? even somewhat?

when did we lose our way? when console players starting having clout? I can remember the days of ESDF keybinds - wasd wasn’t a thing and no title would spoonfeed you default keybinds, you had to M+KB your own self.

now they just rig the aim, hitboxes, matchmaking so every1 gets a turn feeling good about they/them/pronoun
