Hi, guys. At this point, I think I’m terrible at this game. No matter how hard I try, I can never get out of Silver for support, tank, or DPS. Here is a code of me playing as support DQF9N3. I ask for critics, burns, or whatever. I’m open-minded. I need help.
Barely anyone is playing comp at this stage, rank really doesn’t matter due to the tiny pool of players that are constantly stuck with the same throwers/smurfs/etc. Just play to enjoy and don’t care about rank.
I wish someone would tell Blizzard this, who seem to think existing MMR/SR is legitimate enough to include in OW2.
Ill watch the replay, will update
OKAY, so i wanna preface this by saying that i do think your team in this match was fairly mediocre. However, you cannot control your team, therefore im gonna focus exclusively on you, since you should only focus on what you can do better.
First off, some general issues, these are things i notice you do with all heroes. You focus way too much on your team. While it is your job to heal your team as a support, it’s also important to keep track of other things. You tend to lose sight of everything around you while focusing on healing; you pay almost no attention to your surroundings and whats going on near you, besides healing your team.
You also have bad ultimate management. Ultimates are by far the best way to turn or defend a fight, and despite playing 4 supports over the course of 4 rounds, you only build and use 3-4 ultimates the whole match, primarily because you switch so often. While switching is definitely important, a big sound barrier or even Coalescence can win some big fights too, and it can be worth sticking on a hero to push for the ultimate.
Your aim and positioning are okay, but could use some work.
Next up, some hero specific issues, these are things i notice you do when playing specific heroes that you could definitely optimize.
Baptiste
The main thing i notice with Baptiste is that your immortality field usage is really, really bad. You often just seem to throw it at whatever is critical, even if the positioning of the field is bad. Good field placement is critical to winning teamfights. One example of this is on point A; your zarya is next to the tower, and is critical. She’s pushing forward. You throw the field directly at her. The problem here is, she’s pushing forward, which means if you throw it right at her she’ll just walk out of it. If you throw it to where she’s pushing to, she’ll actually be able to engage in the fight with the field up instead of sitting in the middle of the pathway.
Another thing with baptiste i notice is you don’t utilize his boots enough. Especially with them using heroes like junk, spamming your boots will often increase your survival exponentially, while also giving you better healing angles and damage angles. They’re a pretty broken tool if you get good at using them.
Your window placement was also a bit bad. You put it in the middle of a choke your team doesn’t plan on fighting in; your tank had already started pushing to the objective on the left, and the enemy team moved to intercept him. Your window as a result didnt get much value.
Lucio
You’re pretty decent with lucio, and i think for the most part you did well with him. I will say though, your gameplay is pretty sporatic with him and you seem to lose track of things a lot.
Moira
Your resource management is pretty inoptimal with Moira. You tend to dump your entire piss gauge on one person, which is not the optimal way to heal someone with her since she applies an overtime heal with every tick.
Your positioning is also a bit rough, you faded into death once or twice.
You also repeatedly used damage orbs instead of healing orbs despite the fact that their d.va kept eating them. Damage orbs arent usually worth using if they have an active d.va.
Finally, just remember you can tap her slurp beam on an enemy to gain healing resource faster than just holding it. It may have helped you supply your team with more healing.
Mercy
You have zero movement skill with mercy. Without using angel and superjump more often youre basically just a walking pinata for the enemy players. Superjump is an important ability to understand for mercy, and it doesn’t seem you know how to do it. In all honesty, if you don’t know how to superjump and utilize mercy’s mobility, she’s more of a liability.
You also have bad rez management; you immediately go to rez your hanzo the second he dies, when 1. His positioning would have just led to him dying again and 2. Your tanks are probably more important to reserve rez for that fight since the enemy was already pushing in. You threw yourself into harms way for the rez, which lead to your team losing the fight because you threw away your life. That all ties back to you focusing far too much on supporting on your team and too little on your surroundings.
Again, don’t let this discourage you; some matches just can’t be won no matter how hard you try, best you can do is give it your all and learn from it. You have to get really good at the game to solo climb, its definitely a daunting task. But don’t let this particular match discourage you; you definitely made some mistakes, but i also think your team was pretty bad, with one of your dps making really inoptimal picks and cactus-jackass over here feeding half the game.
Just keep improving, you got this. Hope this helps!
From the first few minutes I can mainly tell its positioning and ability usage where you need to improve on. You use your AoE heal CD when you and maybe 1 or 2 allies are missing a slight bit of hp which can be healed by the other support. At 1:24 you used your immortality field on Sigma, but why? He was already back in a safe position. now at 1:38 you are missing your strongest CD which could have potentially saved your Rein. At 1:45 you are pretty much out in the open so you get hit by a sleep dart, the better position here would be either with your Ana in the building she is in or behind the payload with your tanks, becaus you went to one of the unsafe spots when the attackers push the left side of the tower to then die by the Ana.
Then a little skip to 2:58, you use your heal but you werent in range to get your Ana with it, the immortality field was fine here. Then their Rein drops in with a shatter, you avoid it but you kept going to the right a bit too long, you could also move backwards to the right to create just a bit more distance.3:20, pretty bad ult as your only real targets were their tanks, but only you and your Ana could use your ult. 3:42, another wasted heal, you werent damaged at all and nobody else was in the area. 3:48, another immortality field you couldve saved as it was you, Winston and Rein who was joining in vs 1 Rein who was starting to back off. Now again you dont have immortality field for your Rein who actually needs it at 3:58.
4:40, no reason to amp here as point was already lost, your Rein going in there pretty much lost you the entire last point though.
This is all I got for now, might come back later to finish this but hope this helps you a bit.
Thanks, I’m used to using bap, ana, and Lucio. With the other, I thought it would be more appropriate to use them at that moment which was a big mistake. Thanks for reviewing my gameplay. I appreciated it.
Edit: I reached gold today as a healer. Thanks for the feedback; it helped me immensely.
