Hard reset or Soft reset?

Some insight from BTC that should get some real discussion:

I dont see how that will fix anything it will just put everyone in gold-diamond and people with have to grind back at their ranks and if you get put up against a previous top500 when you were plat you will get destroyed it just wont be fun

Well, it would be fun for the already high rated players. LOL

You’re right though, people would complain way more if they had to play against people way above them skill wise.

It would be interesting if you could just opt into it yourself and be placed with other people who opted into it. No magically ruining other people’s games or whatever nonsense. Just a chance for the game to not lock you in a rank lower than you belong without needing to play a separate mode or get a second account. That would be convenient.

they should make a hard reset…

but increase the number of placement matches … so the system has more time to figure out your skill level…

That would also be an easier way to smurf at the start of every season.

Pay $10 for a full MMR reset. People might place higher than their previous rank at first, but they’d drop again, ruin people’s games and end up blaming Blizz for not actually resetting their MMR

I do not really see the problem? If you are resetting SR, I have to face off against higher skilled opponents to prove that I can handle it regardless. You technically NEED smurfs for it to work.

Or they could just use my internal MMR. I would be down with that instead.

Your logic makes sense, but you need to consider that most people may not think it through that far.

This is a terrible idea. A hard reset would mean that everyone has to play like idk, 30 or so games while the system redetermines what the benchmarks for each tier are, but apparently people can’t even put up with a smurf for a single game in arcade. Do we really want games to be essentially random for like the first month?

If they fix all of the sr manopation shenanigans then its basically an overwatch competutve reboot. It would take a bit for everything to be sorted out but ideally people will be accurately placed because there wont be any shady shenanigans behind the scense so the matches should FEEL better because peopl woild be more insync.

Knew immediately from season 2 something was wrong when a bunch of individual golds have troible clombing independently only to group and proceed to steam roll their way to high plat and members of that group continues clombing into diamond.

The difference shouldnt have been that night and day if we were all supposed to be gold than a binch of golds grouping together ina team shouldnt have done anything. (This was ps4 account) But still reason woild dictate that something us wrong with placements/mmr/sr system uf that level shenanigans could be pulled.

I reckon a lot of the issues in competitve now is because this flawed system was given tume for all of uts errors to accumulate and now competitve is a mess.
