I am pretty much sure that most of the players are logging in to play a certain hero like i do.
And where there is a a hard counter(especially if its competent player)
there is nothing left to do than to throw and que again.
So its no wonder that we have so much leavers and stuff.
Game is made like this by design.
Why would someone waste own time to play match that makes him play in the way person doesnt want to?

Me being forced to play Cree when I want to play Junkrat because Pharah exists and she’s literally up above me every time otherwise… sigh. Yeah, I won, but at what cost? Fun. It just feels unsatisfying. I played hitscan for over 10 years before Overwatch even came out. I’m kinda over it.

People assume “hard counters” are 100-0 matchups, when more often than not they end up being more 60-40. With enough practice & patience, you can play any hero into any hero and do fine. Maybe not ideal, maybe not even good. But the game doesn’t suddenly become unplayable because someone is playing someone who does well into your character.

That’s how OW has always been, rock paper scissors is built into the nature of the game since it is a Hero Shooter and it cannot be removed. I wouldn’t mind it, so much if it wasn’t as strict as it is.
I don’t like being forced to play burst damage just because the enemy team has a Zarya that I need to focus when she loses her bubble just to have a chance at winning.
It would be much more fun to just pick a target on the enemy team and have an impact on the fight just by killing them, rather than being forced to target the one Raid Boss on the enemy team.
The only reason I play this game daily is to do my weeklys so I can get the Reaper mythic when it comes out. After that I’m just going to play nothing but Reaper in the most casual, non-sweaty way.

They will not touch pharah or pharahmecy because they dont want lost the saudi arabia money.
Is sad.
Ig blizzard didnt think to make every hero balanced, and not get hard-countered by another hero; its ruining the fun of playing the hero you want, and the game. I dont think theyre planning to change this until its too late.

“I want to only play my hero, and if someone makes me swap, that makes me upset.”
Don’t play a game that revolves around rock-paper-scissors mechanics.
Besides someone above stated the truth that no real “hard counters” exist. 60/40 odds isn’t a hard counter, and you can out play your counters with enough time at your disposal.

well most of the players are getting driven into the game because they like some exact aesthetics of particular character and want to play it like genji mains for example
There is a difference between maining someone and one tricking them.
A lot of Genji players are one tricks who refuse to learn anyone else because they want to play the flash cyborg ninja.
I can’t count how many times I swapped off Zen to Moira or Brig, just to have the Genji player absolutely throw a fit because he can “no longer play the game”, but he was farming me as Zen was fair to him.
Always have fall backs.

In the case that you want to main a specific character and one trick them, once again, just because the enemy team has a counter the game isn’t over.
If you are dedicated to your main, you will learn how to play your bad matchups. For your own example, look at Genji mains. People swap to “hard Genji counters” literally the millisecond he shows up in a game (at least in my case), and most of the time, these Genji players are so comfortable and confident that the counter picks don’t even phase them.
Or, as the person above me said, you can main someone without one tricking them.
If only more Genji players acted like this. I go Moira and it’s like I walked into their Grandma’s house and slapped her across the face.

imagine that you wanted to work as an engineer but you forced to be a trash collector , would it be fun for you?
That has nothing to do with anything at all being discussed here.
But for the record, do you have any idea how much money trash collectors make? Last time I looked, they were upper 20’s lower 30’s/hour in pay. Sure it’s a dirty job, but that’s good pay.
Engineers can make the same, if not more, but deal with a much harder workload, longer hours, and deal with corporate/political issues depending on where you’re hired at.
So I wouldn’t care either way, tbh, I’d take the trash collector job, because it’s less interaction with people, with good pay and benefits.
Regardless, this is Overwatch, and the game was designed around learning EVERY hero and their counters, so you can keep up with how the game is being played. If you’re one tricking, you’re playing checkers when we’re playing chess and that’s a personal issue.

i understood that you are advocating game design here , chill
So you understand that only wanting to play one hero, is an issue?
no , i only understand that you are a advocating clown
I love these forums.

Well when they stack heroes that make your job very hard it can be pretty rough
The problem is that players aren’t’ adaptable. Players aren’t flexible. You have numerous ways to deal with Pharah.
You can do with with Cass, Ashe, Widow, or S76. Effectively 4 different aiming styles.
You can dive bomb the enemy support ignoring Pharah by playing a good Tracer or Genji. Pharah cant’ kill you pretty much at all, so you can ignore her pretty much and go kill her team faster.
You can attempt to mirror the pharah as well.
The other option is go airborne with Echo.
For every complaint people have in the game I see multiple strategies for getting around every single option in the game. I love the diversity of heroes I get to play specifically because of that. There are certain styles I don’t’ want to touch, but its pretty few.
Overwatch is predominately for flex players. Anyone who is a 1trick gets shunned pretty much.
I care less about my counters and more about Zarya. It is lame that I get punished for my teammates focusing a barrier and then ignoring the charged Zarya. What the hell? Like, I have done my fair share of trolling, but the karmic value of this nonsense has far exceeded my bad juju.
