Hard to swallow pills: GOATS is meta because there are so many problems.

  • Rein and Zarya do too much damage.
  • Heal stacking among Lucio and Brig.
  • Speedboost
  • Discord
  • Unviable tank busters

Things that have been solved:

  • Brig has been gutted (this is why we see some DPS being flexed in, like Sombra.)

Hardest to swallow pill: GOATS is far from dead, is still being used by the pros extensively, and no matter what these forums tell you, will not be dying any time soon until major changes are made across the board.

Canā€™t nerf Tans or Sound barrier because then weā€™d go back to grav-dragons every game.

I feel like 3 support 2 tank 1 dps is more common than 2 support 3 tank 1dps so Iā€™m inclined to agree, but i donā€™t have any numbers on that.

EVERY meta is dictated by supports. Always has been, always will be.

Early meta was Lucio.
Triple tank and Beyblade existed because of Ana.
Dive was created to counter Ana.
Widow Dive variant because of broken Mercy.
GOATs is because of stacked AOE heals and armor.

There will never be a meta that isnā€™t dictated by the power level of certain supports because they are the glue that holds compositions together. Supports arenā€™t broken by any means, they just have so much influence due to their huge variety of potential synergy with other heroes.

False. Dive and Goats both have Lucio and Zen, and Brig has gone through 10+ consecutive nerfs. Tanks most certainly play a role in the Meta.

For example, DM-Bot.va would hold her DM box over any enemy and suddenly, they canā€™t do damage to defend themselves.

GOATS is the first meta where EVERY little problem in this game, adds up to one big clusterduck.

goats is a tank meta that EXISTS because of the supports. More specifically, the existence of brigitte in this game.

So technically speaking, it is a tank meta. But tanks arenā€™t the source of its creation.

Yes/no. Rein and Zarya are insanely powerful compared to other tanks.

Big HP + Big Heals + Big tank DPS = GOATS.

dude. Just watch OWL now. You can see d.va winston hammond line up as well. Itā€™s a map dependent thing. But goats on its own is the consequence of this abomination we call brigitte and how sheā€™s fundamentally designed this way.

You canā€™t remove goats without either completely changing brigitteā€™s kit, or nerfing her to oblivion.
