Hanzo's overpowered hitbox

WHY IS IT SO SMALL? A character like mccree, has to have a gigantic hitbox because of his potetial, and loud footsteps, While Hanzo (Effectivly the same thing but better) Has a hitbox like the roots of a tree and quiter footsteps than zenyatta. #MakeHanzoFat

Incorrect, His hitbox is average size.

Incorrect again, he is not smaller than McCree.

Also, anyone on these forums is the vocal minority, but considering I seem to be the only one between us posting factual information, I find it amusing you basically tried to pull the ole childish ā€œI know you are but what am Iā€ bit.

So again, you made a claim. Burden of proof is on you.

What makes his hitbox ā€œstrangeā€ is that it’s not always clear which part of his body are in it (his haircut is part of the critbox but the end of his chin isn’t iirc).

Idk about the hitboxes but I never understood why he is allowed to be silent but widow is so loud even though they both have the same kill potential.

His bow also blocks his critbox 99% of the time.

Hanzo is also more of a flanker type hero, so he obviously wouldn’t be as loud as others. Even Reaper announces loud and clearly where he is compared to the rest of the cast.

hanzo has no " real " head hit box…
its very hard to hit his head…
[ increase his head hitbox ] and reduce torbs

As playing widow more these days I can vouche that hitting hanzo in the head is hella harder than hitting Mcree in the head or just plain hitting Hanzo period can be a challenge, I thought it was my lag or their lag causing me to miss Hanzo but it’s clearly an issue.

I think its because Hanzo, like a few other characters (Ana and Lucio come to mind) have stranger postures than the others which certainly throws me off.

The problem isn’t his actual hitbox, it’s his bow acting as a shield. Not sure if that is an intended mechanic or not, though.

he has the smallest projectile hitbox of all. Him and genji both.

His bow does not act as a shield, that is not how his hitbox works… See what I mean, blatantly false information.

Sprites are 2D, wrong term

Not incorrect term. Was not talking about the model itself.

Sprites are 2d graphical images

Everything in discussion here is a hitbox, hurtbox, collisionbox, or similar.

Don’t worry, he’s a Blizzard dev. He knows what he’s talking about. :woman_shrugging:t2:

Either way, OP, Hanzo’s actual hitbox is like everyone else’s. Just his bow makes it a little wonky. It’s the same with Mercy. For some reason her arm while rezzing can block a head shot if you’re in an unlucky angle.

Not entirely correct.

Sprites are ā€œfalse imposedā€ 2d images created to make them appear 3d.

A hitbox is an invisible shape commonly used in video games for real-time collision detection. It is often a rectangle (in 2D games) or cuboid (in 3D) that is attached to and follows a point on a visible object (such as a model or a sprite), though circular or spheroidial shapes are also common. It is common for animated objects to have hitboxes attached to each moving part to ensure accuracy during motion.[1][unreliable source?]
Hitboxes are used to detect ā€œone-wayā€ collisions such as a character being hit by a punch or a bullet. They are unsuitable for the detection of collisions with feedback (e.g. bumping into a wall) due the difficulty experienced by both humans and AI in managing a hitbox’s ever-changing locations; these sorts of collisions are typically handled with much simpler axis-aligned bounding boxes instead. Players may use the term ā€œhitboxā€ to refer to these types of interactions regardless.
There are a total of three different kinds of hitboxes that are normally used which includes hitboxes, hurtboxes, and collision boxes. Each of these boxes is used in different ways while creating video games. A Hitbox is an area in which a character or object is able to be hit. These kinds of boxes tend to be a blue or green color. A Hurtbox is a term for the area in which an attack or object can damage said hitbox. These boxes are normally mentioned in fighting games as just ā€œhitboxā€ but. This kind of boxes is normally found in the color red. A Collision box is the area in which an object can collide with another object that also has a collision box or a solid wall.
