Hanzo Volley Skill - Let It Bounce Off Surfaces

Hello, i’m a big Hanzo fan with 291 hours of experience as him, so far.
I am complety in favor of the new movement skill for Hanzo but i have
a few concerns when it comes to the new volley skill.
Hanzo’s current playstyle is slow, technical and calculated with little room
for error in both aim and positioning.

The “technical” aspect is one of the main draws of Hanzo’s playstyle and
the volley skill severely undermines it.
Scatter arrow gives Hanzo an AOE option, and angled shot option and a
burst damage option all in one, but the damage is a source of complaints.
The new volley skill is very direct and it erases "draw length/arrow speed"
calculations, it turns a single arrow into an easy to aim stream of arrows,
but the worst part is that it will completely eliminate the strategic option
of the surface bounce mechanic by replacing scatter arrow.
I would much rather have the strategic option of a surface bounce than
simple direct damage.

So the conclusion i arrived at was to either keep a nerfed scatter arrow
along with the new movement skill, or add the surface bounce mechanic
to the new volley skill.
The downsides of a nerfed scatter arrow would be compensated by the
increased survivability granted by the new movement skill but at this point,
the ideal outcome would indeed be for the surface bounce mechanic to be
be integrated in the new volley skill.

Simple doesn’t mean better.
I thought i explained the benefits of scatter over volley pretty well.

Kinda sad we have to cater to a tiny fraction of whiners and remove and rework an entire ability because of it

I think this would be the ideal way to keep Hanzo’s technical playstyle.

I can see a surface bounce working (perhaps as an alt fire), but not a surface bounce + rapid fire. That is like asking for Bastion to be able to walk and move while in Sentry mode. It’s only going to end in tears for everyone involved.

I like the arrow bouncing, but the scatter is a problem.

I would prefer a single, bouncing arrow that also pierces targets. I really want to see those high level trick shots. That’s the problem with scatter shot; its ideal use isn’t very difficult, giving Hanzo a skill ceiling much lower than he should have.

In all honesty they will be changing Hanzo quite a lot with volley, I’m kinda sad to say you won’t be able to shoot through corners anymore but I don’t think that overloading volley is going to help

it’s also a shame that with volley they consume all options for hanzo to be able to shoot a bouncing arrow, even if just a single one, all of his buttons are occupied now except for his Reload

So you want it to be a better scatter arrow?

I thought Hanzo still had an alt-fire (mousebutton 2) available.

Shift is sonic arrow
E is scatter/volley
and then doubletap wasd is lunge.

you mean using the floor hitbox?
That’s not playstyle…

At least we have clips of scatter arrow on YouTube and Twitch. We could see how the ability was supposed to work in the animated short, too.

Implying it’s a good ability.

Last i checked they’re not replacing scatter with the same thing

That one is used to cancel your arrow of choice or to cancel your bow being tense, I guess they could change it but I kinda use it quite a bit
