I’d argue he’s one of the worst DPS heroes RN simply because A Sojourn is admin lobby tier, B Freyja is 100% going to power creep him, and C his perks outside of Dragon Fury are straight up dog poo.
Yea, pre perks he was arguably the worst or at least one of the works dps. Now with perks, like you said, he has one pretty good one. Which is also a major. He might as well have no minor perks as one just makes him worse, and the other is so niche to ever actually come into play. At least both don’t nerf him I guess.
They said perk changes will be coming, and swapping some out. I hope in s16 anyways he gets some new perks for minors.
He’s not very good but we shouldn’t use Sojourn as the standard to balance by
Sojourn makes him trash whenever she is OP not a metric and more so stating a fact.
Sojourn makes every character trash when she is OP though
A rework is what he needs. He’s been neutered, not good at doing anything, doesn’t counter any hero, unsatisfying to play.
Storm Arrow being the strongest part of his kit is a bad sign, its holding his kit together it does everything and we play an archer to fire arrows, his primary fire should be the strongest part of his kit.
No, he doesn’t. He just needs buffs.
And please don’t give hanzo haters weird ideas talking about “reworks” as we all know that “rework” in the community mostly means sugarcoated nerfs.
The hacking med pack isn’t really that bad IMO. It’s more of some already meta heroes got OP perks like sojourn.
Also, can we please stop dumb arguments like “freja being better Hanzo”?
If you’ve ever spent more than 1 min watching her gameplay, you should realize that there is not much similarity between hanzo and her. The only similarity is very superfacial that they both use “bow”. While actual kit wise, she is basically a projectile Ashe/sojourn hybrid, which is not even remotely similar to hanzo’s kit.
It’s so niche tho because it lasts for 12s. You also have to be within like 10m or so of the health pack to hack it. And then you put your walls skill on cd. It will have the rare use, but it really isn’t a good perk. And the other option is even worse. Most heroes at least have a pretty good minor, at least one of the 2.
IMO, the correct way of using that perk is not specifcally hacking the health pack with sonic arrow. Instead, it’s more about adjusting your normal sonic spot that the sonic radius can cover the health pack around the corner.
Some maps, speically old control maps, have really good spots for this, like the 2 mega packs close to the point on lijiang tower night market.
Yes, the perk is kinda niche and map dependent, but when it works, it can be kinda useful.
His perks are terrible, and that’s a problem. However, the bigger problem is that the base hero is terrible.
All the Dragon Fury perk is, is an attempt to partially restore him to a similar level to what he was once, considering what now makes him particularly bad is his charge rate being too slow.
Nonetheless, even this doesn’t make him good, since that first shot still charges too slowly, forcing him to play at ranges where he is far less impactful. One second of buffed charge time is too short to go aggressive with the perk buff, and so he has to stay where he is. The balance team just doesn’t understand how Hanzo works.
The perk does nothing to address what Hanzo’s actual problem is, being his inability to position aggressively enough where he can more reliably hit shots, plus now being a naturally isolated target that is easy pickings for flankers.
If you play where he has enough time to charge shots, his shots become less reliable and he’s an isolated target. If you try to play him closer like before, he can easily be dived on without even the ability to finish charging a shot, or he will simply lose to another mid-range hero without his limitations.
He needs his charge rate reverted to 0.72 seconds, then they have to replace his perks with ones that actually change up his gameplay.
Yea, the rare time it can be kinda useful. But that’s the problem, how rarely it is. Plus the duration being so low. Maybe the odd time you can hack a health pack a player is trying to grab, but if his other perk was at all useful, people wouldn’t be taking this hack one. They will be doing perk adjustments, and hanzo should be at the top of the list for buffed/reworked perks.
He needs his breakpoints restored to what they used to be, his primary fire should be good enough to kill flying heroes (though this might not be possible, this game’s movement is simply too hostile for non hitscan heroes)
He could get some fall off damage in return so casuals can stop complaining about Hanzo spamming a choke point. But having hero who is supposed to be a master archer exist with such a weak primary fire is a bad joke.
the problem with hanzos perks imo is that his kit doesnt really change.
scatter arrows are basically the exact same as storm arrows and his other perks barely do anything.
weve got bastion who is basically a super transformer with his perks fundamentally changing the way he plays, meanwhile hanzo gets to leap slightly faster after climbing a wall.
and that’s a tier two perk.
As he is, there is barely a reason to pick him compared to the other dps that fills his role, like ashe, widowmaker, sojourn or soldier., they just kill faster and are more reliable, Hanzo only can win if he get a headshot but that is very unreliable to do. Maybe the only thing being better is as a tankbuster that I think no one asked.
He should get at least his charge the same he had before, and even like that he would be weaker than pres9 because his 2 bodyshots breakpoint is very bad because just a little bit of healing makes it 3 bodyshots that is insane. (and he needs nearly a second to charge being still). He have his storm skill that makes him a better dps and viable for 2 seconds each 8sec but I think very few hanzo enjoy that ability as he depends too much on it.
His perks should let him focus more on being a flanker or more sniper. I think in some ways scatter could get back as a way to finish off enemies hidden in cover, maybe just make it a explosion arrow or something like that that could help sniperhanzo after he have a body shot.
And maybe he should have a perk to let him move faster for flanking, I don’t know if a perk that reduces his movement penalty while moving, or that improves his leap to get away would be good. And he being able to shoot after climbing again would be a really good minor perk.
I think Mccree perks are the worst but whatever, the hacked health pack need to go just rework it, wall climb perk is fairly useless
