Hanzo is fine. People used to tilt and throw if Hanzo was picked, that’s how much of a troll-pick he used to be. Now that Hanzo’s viable, people are whining because, gasp, they might have to change up their gameplay and possibly their hero choices! Oh, no!
Just learn to adapt, guys. Hanzo isn’t THAT powerful, he’s just viable now.
I’d honestly agree, I was confused why they changed his damage instead of cooldown. The cooldown on his storm arrows is… perplexing. Shouldn’t a hanzo player have to use his normal arrows more often? In the current iteration he can simply fire 3-4 arrows then storm arrow at will. Storm arrow up time is just so large that he may as well be a part time Hit scan, or at least diet coke hit scan.
(Yes I know storm arrows isn’t hit scan but it mostly is due to the speed).
hanzo is the strongest dps in the game at the moment. ult charge rate wise, the storm bow, the mobility, how well he synergizes in the meta, how easy it is to make his ult kill through transcendence, so… well…
you’re wrong.
He’s more than viable though. He’s got the most damage of any DPS at the moment, part of that being him getting his ult every fight due to Storm Arrows higher damage output. Then when Zarya gets ult it’s practically a free wipe.
It is, actually. It does happen a lot, it happened a lot even before Hanzo’s rework. This game is just about centered on ults. And Dragonstrike is the easiest ult to dodge in the entire game.
And before you bring up Zarya… It’s called being prepared. You see the enemy has a Zarya AND a Hanzo. You KNOW what they’re planning to do. That’s when you be ready to counter and stop them. A stun will stop them in their tracks. Stay on top of things. That’s how you adapt.
That doesn’t mean he’s OP. Tracer also has a high damage output, can one-clip a lot of heroes, and gets her ult very fast. And again, like I said about Zarya, just be prepared. Don’t let them catch you by surprise.
He was purposefully made OP as part of Operation: Rescue F tier Heroes. This is the same thing they did to Junkrat. Make him crazy OP to dispel the undeserved low tier reputation and make him accepted. Then scale him back to a reasonable level over a few patches.
Hanzo will be perfectly viable and balanced by mid summer most likely.
Which is why she got nerfed meanwhile they’re nerfing his Storm Arrows by 10 damage, which still won’t change the fact he gets his ult extremely fast just by using Storm Arrows whenever it’s off cooldown. There’s a reason Zarya is meta too, most of the heroes right now are slow and have little means of evading Grav, and there’s no way you’re gonna outheal it even with Zen ult when you’ve got 6 people shooting at you + Hanjo ult.
Hanzo is viable at close, mid and long range. Has increases mobility, can climb walls, has one of the most powerful ults in the game. Has a move in cd that’s basically another heroes ult. Classified as a sniper, meanwhile widow while yes her headshots can one hit KO a number of heroes (so can hanzo with much more ease imo) her on escape is on a cd and her gun close range pales in comparison to hanzos new storm arrows. Her mine is meh. That’s just how I feel, should widow be buffed eh no. Hanzo does deserve the nerf though.
For perspective, Hanzo by default is a strong mid range hero, so he competes with Soldier 76. The rework takes that and pushes it into insane territory. He is more effective at long range, so he can actively compete with Widowmaker, his damage output is on Junkrat levels (which is again obscene), not to mention a close range spam ability that gives him incredible close range prowess, which causes him to step on McCree’s territory, and with more mobility. Factor in sonic arrow and Dragons (which combine disturbingly well with Zarya and can be built fast enough to bet tossed out like tic tacs) and Hanzo is single handedly the best backline DPS by a country mile. The only thing that could give him trouble is being dove on, but his insane DO and Bridgitte rules out that option.
He was viable before; however, Widowmaker was just better in most respects, so he was often neglected at the highest level. That being said, he seems to have an OWL presence in this season (which is weird for a troll pick) because Brigitte enables Zarya compositions and gravity dragons are just as good on the last patch as they are here. In other words, this community has no idea what it is talking about.
As for whether or not he is “that” powerful, well, actually, he is. Given he was, by definition, viable before and professionals DID run him in double sniper compositions from time to time, he is less niche/situational and more all purpose.
I am a Hanzo main, by the way. Not just randomly complaining. If anything, I am salty they nerfed Storm Arrows exclusively for Tracer, rather than nerfing them in a more general fashion.
As a Tracer main I think storm arrow is necessary because it keeps a lot of us in check in terms of being out of position. I think it really is in a perfect place right now.
With the nerf to storm arrow hanzo 3 shots tracer instead of two shotting her, and needs one headshot and one body shot. That’s how tracer has something to do with it.
He’s supposed to be a projectile sniper, but he currently fits as a one-size-fits-all CQC, mid-range, long-range, extreme-range DPS brawling, shield-breaking, tank-busting flanker with sniper damage stacked on top. If they removed his leap ability (which god knows why they even gave him that in the first place) he’d be in a much better spot. There’s no reason he should be able to outmaneuver DPS in close range, or escape from being pummeled by Reinhardt to death because he has THAT much more mobility (If Hanzo’s getting in Reinhardt’s range, he deserves the death). I mean, he’s a sniper, how do they even rationalize giving him a CQC-centric kit?
He could stand to lose an arrow or two out of SA, but let’s take one step at a time and see how it goes.
