Hanzo Draw Speed and RSI (Repetitive Stress Injury)

I’ve been a Hanzo one-trick for years, and it’s just about the only hero I play this game for. I don’t love his current state, although I’m ecstatic that one-shot is back. I’m clearly biased. I’d also like to note: I have a mild RSI in my mouse hand.

The current Hanzo has significantly smaller projectiles AND a considerably slower draw speed. I not only need to focus on aim precision in the way I needed to in earlier seasons, but I also need to hold my mouse button down (aka “dragging”) for significantly longer bursts, while precisely aiming.

Dragging is one of the most strenuous things you can do – causing RSIs to develop or worsen. I found myself doing aim training for 10 minutes and immediately felt inflammation in my mouse hand. In real gameplay, it takes around 20-30 minutes for pain to start. My RSI isn’t that bad compared to others.

The conversation about balance and whatnot aside:
Blizzard, please adjust Hanzo to better accommodate those of us with RSIs either by swapping out his drawspeed nerf for some other nerf, or by creating an accessibility option for us.

This isn’t about balance, it’s genuinely about player health.

Please. I desperately want to play the hero I enjoy without harming my health.

EDIT: I’ve tried the Toggle Primary Fire. It’s somewhat unusable since it reverts draw if you wallclimb, so you flat-out cannot do wallclimb peek snipes.

there is the option to toggle his arrows and i found myself playing with that post update. having to constantly hold down arrows for the increased time gave my hands a bit of a strain too

Could you point me towards this setting?

I was looking for something like that, but couldn’t find it. I’m not sure a flat toggle will be practical, unfortunately, but I’d like to try it over hurting myself.

For both Hanzo and Lifeweaver, they should add an option that allows the munition to automatically charge, and the player only needs to press the button once to launch the projectile.

You neee to press twice in this option. Most heroes only require you to press once to shoot. The same should be for Hanzo and LW, at least as an option.

In the settings section where you adjust your sensitivity and key bindings, each hero has its own set of settings, including Hanzo. You’ll find the option there

Thanks I found it after filtering for Hanzo only settings, then “Hero & HUD” > Toggle Primary Fire. A lot better than before, but hard to do quick shots.

Yeah, I also found it clunky when I tried it.
I’m not a Hanzo player though. So you might get used to it if you practice enough.

As I said, the best thing is to make each arrow charges automatically and you only have to press once for each shot. But this is not an option currently.

Lifeweaver-core… when I used to play him a lot, my fingers would start “locking” a bit as it were after longer matches

I’d like to note, since I’ve now tried the toggle primary option: you can’t hold charge on wallclimb. This needs to be fixed.

They nerfed Hanzo a while back by making wall climb revert the bow draw. It’s not a problem with the setting its just a balance change they made. I hope the setting lets you play better

You can bind fire to caps lock and hold it instead of mouse button

Lol

I’m only mid-30s, but avoid LW for this reason as well. Too uncomfortable to hold his heals after 30 yrs of computing.

Tried the toggling option, but found it hard to get used to and manage (clicking on and then off).

Um, isnt this something they removed from hanzo altogether and is not related to this setting?
You always lose the draw if you wall climb regardless.

On another note, I dont play hanzo, but once I tried “toggle scope” option for Ana i found myself prefering it a lot.

I can’t play Lifeweaver for the same reason. It’s awkward using the setting they where the first click starts charging, then the next to fire but at least playing with that setting doesn’t cause pain.

I’m a support main (that likes LifeWeaver) and I agree 100% with you. I use heal-toggle on LifeWeaver, but it’s still clunky to use because I have to “press twice”, while all other supports heal with just one press.

Ya while op may sound like trolling this is real with new charge time for the first time I used toggle as it started hurting hands and toggle itself is not perfect and often you have to redraw as it gets cancelled so I’m back to hold but it’s certainly stressful on the hand

Bind it to mouse wheel and you can complete two clicks in single motion.

Well I can’t do that, because the first click starts LifeWeaver’s healing charge (10 - 80 hp/s), then I press again when I want to release it.

Using mouse wheel to instantly click 2x times will only output the minimum (10 hp/s).

No, you start charging with one click, and then you release and start next one with double click rotation. 1->2->2->2… until you don’t need to recharge it. I’m talking about “toggle charge” option.
