Hanzo deals more damage per game than soldier 76

a one shot potentiel hero deals more damage than legs 76 at all ranks according to overbuff.

Is that normal that hanzo is the 5th best dps potential hero behind bastion junkrat torb pharah when he does have a one shot potential at any range ?

I’ve made a thread about it before - hanzo would be fine if we removed all headshots from him, and the game would get one oneshotter less. Win win.

I also made a thread about this, fairly recently too. I broke down this exact problem, actually. But yes, for the sake of game balance you do NOT give high-alpha characters access to burst damage as well.

Only if you make his bodyshot take 190hp

130 or 140 would be a good number.

More like 140. One shotting a Tracer with a character sized arrow wouldn’t be the best.

I’m not sure what his stats looked like before, but I wouldn’t be surprised if this is just a symptom of his arrow speed buff.

Hanzo’s effective range was pushed out quite far when they made his arrows faster. I’d say he’s stepped on 76’s toes a bit too heavily ever since then. I’d expect 76 to be stronger at a specific set of ranges (particularly mid-long, just before falloff) but… he really isn’t. I don’t find it much harder to hit shots with hanzo vs 76 at any range, really. The only time it feels harder to hit a shot on hanzo than it does on soldier is when the range is so far, falloff prevents 76 from doing meaningful damage in the first place.

Of course when I say hit a shot, I mean hit enough consecutive shots to kill. Obviously landing a 5 bullets with 76 is going to be easier than landing 5 arrows on Hanzo. But in terms of killing someone… it feels much easier on Hanzo. Especially when you start factoring in the value of burst damage due to healing and escape abilities.

Of course there’s always the niche of 76 being hitscan for pharah and being a bit more self-reliant with his heal station, but it doesn’t feel like enough to give him healthy competition.

I remember a while back they increased Soldier’s falloff to give him more ranged poke. Honestly, I think he’s close to being balanced as-is, but if anything they should just increase his falloff a bit more. His burst damage is low enough and he has enough spread over time that he wouldn’t face the “Sniper McCree” issue. Anyone good enough to hit consecutive shots and manage spread at those distances should be rewarded - after all, they would have been had they picked widow or hanzo.

Nah headshots are perfectly fine for Hanzo, it’s his one shot headshot that needs to go.

One shot potential, spam ability, wallhack ability, insane damage, 2 decent mobility options and an effective zoning ult that can secure multi kills.

His kit has way too much imo. The addition of leap was unneeded and without it hed have an actual weakness but currently he doesnt.

Don’t forget one of his most important passives, the wonky, tiny head hitbox. (He isn’t a McCree fatty otherwise either.) I feel like I get more headshots on a Genji or Tracer than Mr. Bow For Head.

Honestly, same
I can win Tracer duels on Ashe around 40% of the time if she jumps me, but Hanzo, regardless of range, seems to always outduel me.

I like that people complain that Baptiste makes Soldier irrelevant, yet Hanzo already did that 2 years ago with his Rework

Yea that’s… Uh…

Yea no that’s not normal and is probably something that needs to be fixed.

Like, for comparison, Widow has some of the lowest overall damage in the game, she only does better than the Supports. Meanwhile, a hero with arguably more kill potential than her does some of the most. On average, Hanzo even does more than Ashe, who literally can set the whole team on fire to pad her stat. That should be an issue.

Widow makes up for her lower average damage by having the highest final blows/ solo kills in the entire game

Hanzo is right behind her yet is doing some of the top tier damage as well

But we should complain about Baptiste being able to do some damage!

Exactly. That’s honestly how a sniper probably should be. Not pumping out a ton of damage, but the shots they do make, count. Ya know, one-shot-one-kill and all that. It may be only 200 damage, but it’s still 100% of a kill.

Hanzo though? It’s more like one-shot-one-kill-then-a-whole-hell-of-a-lot-more-shots-because-we-strapped-a-machine-gun-to-a-bow.

Just because this seems appropriate, obligatory reminder to anyone reading this who thinks that: Bap does some of the lowest damage in the game, with only the likes of Mercy, Ana, Brig, and Lucio doing less. But sure, nerf him because of a “totally realistic and totally not superficially staged scenario”.

Claiming Widow isn’t broken because lower damage is lies by liars atop a throne of more lies

Widow’s damage is lower because she is a point and click adventure that doesn’t have to try and damage through all the heals, she just deletes you

I’ve posted about this before- Hanzo NEEDS to become an OW2/custom mode character. High damage projectile headshots are fundimentally broken and allow bad players to get lucky kills, and let good players abuse the hell out of it.

You know what ol’ Hazno really needs? Damage ramp over distance; essentially, reversed shotgun mechanics. Make the damage of his arrows scale with the distance they travel. Point blanks do diddly squat, which keeps Storm Arrow relevant for some good burst while you’re close, and long range shots deal the whole enchilada, and maybe some extra spice for excessive range.

Suddenly, Hanzo will play as he was meant to. A Sniper/Buster with minimal close range ability, outside of a gimmick move.

Remove his unlimited arrows. Let it have 4 arrows and increased drawn time.

Has for storm arrow change into 30 secs with 8 arrows.

Well that was a joke lol.

Removing headshots from Hanzo is a joke too.
