I love the visuals on these maps, it’s an amazing job full of nostalgia, but seriously if there’s ONE reason why Assault maps needed to be removed is because you can win/lose them in 3 minutes, which was so damn frustrating.
Mhmm, I remember there was a blog post where they talked about issues with Assault. They mentioned that the game mode can either last forever or be over in a flash. The mode isnt driven by the objective like others are.
Kind of, but not really. In 2CP you either cap or you lose which, when capping is extremely hard, is frustrating. But in Clash even if you lose that point you can just get the next one that won’t be in their spawn.
Certainly doesn’t feel like infinite stall fests to me.
Edit: Just realized I should mention that I’m a QP andy. It might very well be different in comp.
And then the game is from then on just bouncing between the last 2 points because you’re team is better than the enemy so you keep capping 2nd but the last point is impossible to take so you never win 3rd
You just go back and forth between 2nd and 3rd point 2-3 times
Clash is just a tug of war between 2nd & 3rd point or lose + The map design is awfully favoured to ranged heroes too. With 3rd point begin impossible to cap since the enemy spawn is right there
Outside the 3rd point its fairly ballanced, both sides will have similar respawn points, so it takes roughtly the same time to get to point for both sides.
3rd is literally impossible to cap as the attacker. It is 2cp 2nd point all over again
The game shouldnt be artificially disadvantaging you. That is why 2cp was trash because the game decided point A was free for attackers and point B was a fortress to attack
thats not why. the problem was 2CP was a MASSIVELY offence oriented game mode that they tried to balance by having defense oriented maps. offence could win the map with only 2 teamfight. defense has to win every fight perfectly. it made for 6 or 8CP games in compthat would just end in a tie. and in quickplay the game could be done in 2 min.
it was a terrible mode. clashs problem is the map size. and the lack of quick shortcuts to get places
