Hammond isn’t balanced. That’s my point. He is the singular hero in the game that cannot be solo killed by anyone. Mei? Can’t solo kill him before he runs off (gap in between freezes). Sombra? Too weak to solo kill a decent Hammond. Roadhog? Same story as Mei.
This wouldn’t be a problem if he wasn’t so mobile. Seriously, who thought this was a good idea? We already had two mobile tanks (Dva and Winston) who were very balanced. They could do a decent amount of damage to solo targets while also allowing for solo counterplay. You couldn’t just dive in without the risk of being killed.
Hammond can. Hammond can dive in without any risks, because he won’t get killed unless he screws up badly (like diving a whole team). He can roll in, lose half his health, then roll out. Where’s the counterplay to that besides just not being on you own?
He also distracts from teamfights. His cc (throwing you up in the air) is annoying, and can distract long enough to turn the fight to the enemy side. But you can’t focus him first, because you NEED two or more heroes to kill him, turning whatever fight it is into a 4v5 until he dies or runs away.
That’s not balanced, nor is it fun to play against. I’m not even sure how to fix him.
(What we don’t need is more CC/stronger CC added to the game, so pls don’t do that Blizzard)
believe it or not a good team could take down a hammond easily also you dont have to kill hammond just poke him he wants ur abilities so dont give him any than punish his team because its a 6v5 while he goes and gets a mega
Junk can solo kill him with a bit of cheeky trap play. If you trap a ball you can lay another trap at his feet and unload on him. The second he gets set free of the first trap he will instantly be caught again in the next one. Which is both funny and useful.
Hammond can definitely be taken on in a duel. The reason the attacker doesn’t typically end up eliminating the Hammond is because he can run away.
This is also true for Winston and D.va. All of these characters have similar cooldowns on their mobility, though unlike those two, Hammond does have a prerequisite on vertical movement. If anything, he’s less likely to escape a bad scenario than the other two since he can’t block any stuns and needs a running start.
This is completely untrue. Every single tank can be soloed by someone in the roster (sometimes by other tanks). DVA can be soloed by Zarya or Sym very easily. Roadhog, rein, Winston, and Orisa can pretty easily be soloed by Reaper and soloed not as easily by other heroes. Sigma can be soloed by much of the cast if they can outsmart him
Notice all of the heroes OP plays are heroes that like to bully the slow moving tanks. Literally he just mad because Hammond doesn’t sit still, so MUST be overtuned.
Trendy to make Ball complaints right now… except half of them say he’s a throw pick and feeder, the other half saying he’s an INVINCIBLE GOD!!! LOL
We can’t have a tank with mobility and survivability, can we!!! OH NOOO!!!
You’re talking about a Tank vs. Tank engagement, and I should clarify that Tanks typically will win against Damage heroes, not necessarily against other Tanks.
In the other case, you’re pitting Symmetra with 200 health and D.va with at least 750. Even in the case of Symmetra putting out substantial damage, it will not be enough before D.va kills her with her substantial output via Micro Missiles and basic fire.
As for Reaper against other tanks; though he has substantial damage output and invulnerability he still has to contend with many of the one-shot elements or incredible sustain of most Tanks. In the case of Winston, he needs 5 seconds to kill Reaper, and it’ll take about half of that time for Reaper to contend with Winston’s barrier. Likewise, the threat of Charge from Reinhardt is ever present, to say nothing of Firestrike, and 1600 barrier. Or Roadhog’s Hook and TAB (though to be fair, Roadhog is probably the easiest challenge for Reaper, overall).
And no, most of the cast can’t solo Sigma. One direct hit from Sigma shreds over half their health, and Accretion will stall for the next shot to eliminate them. If Sigma is pressured, he can Kinetic Grasp to pick up health and only a handful will be able to stop that.
Sigma certainly has weaknesses against CQC-pressure - Zarya being especially effective, as can McCree - but it doesn’t take that much effort for Sigma to dispatch more standard ranged targets.
Don’t feel like this odd situations, this is normal and intentional. Blizzard originally designed Tanks to be stronger than the rest of the Overwatch cast because they believed (rightly) that no one would play Tank on a consistent basis or on a team all that often. This would contribute to the GOATS meta, but that design schematic and intention is still there even after the switch over to the 2/2/2 composition.
He isn’t balanced the shield nerfs helped but not enough. If they decrease his acceleration and top speed just a bit the listed counters would have more of a chance of dealing with him.
Yes sombra is a hard encounter but ever since her accurately got reduced by one second it’s kind of hard to kill hamster herself when he’s hacked. Because of hammond’s dps.
People think it is okay for him to be OP because he is a tank.
I get it. Tanks in general are in a bad spot right now and many of them need buffs ASAP, such as Winston, D.Va and Orisa.
But the fact that a lot of tanks have received unfair treatment doesn’t change the fact that Wrecking Ball is OP and gets away with too much. Every match with him is your entire team trying to CC him while his team focuses on yours and steamrolls you. He creates a situation where either you ignore him and he wrecks your Supports (you lose) or you focus on him and ignore his team, creating an insane opportunity for the opponent to destroy you (you lose).
People say this is “tanking”, but it isn’t really. Not when creating space is little risk/high reward or the time it takes to kill the tank when he’s alone is so godamn high.
You should play some Wrecking Ball. Your lines about Sombra not being able to solo him and being able to dive in with no risks are gibberish and it didn’t come as a surprise to me that you’ve only got a few minutes on Wrecking Ball.
Dude, Q: what a tank is supposed to do?
A: Make space
Q: How can you make space against a really strong DPS?
A: Killing it, or booping it off high grounds
Q: How can a tank make space if every other dps can solo him?
A: Well, he can’t
You guys keep saying “X tank is too strong, can’t be 1v1”, but if tanks were supposed to be 1v1 against every single dps, why create the role at all? They would be just easy to hit dps.
Right now your are asking for your allied tank to win space against 2 dps, while the enemy tanks are supposed to be able to be soloed by you alone, do you hear how silly that sound?
