So I never use Hammond but I’m saying from personal experience going up against him, Hammond is honestly just a terrible hero right now and he needs a buff.
First up, he gets counter by literally every hero in the game, his huge hit box, high spread, and low damage makes him possible to kill even by a Mercy, in fact, I literally have gotten killed by Hammond only 5 or less times and I have him in every game I’ve done, I never have trouble with him, and killing him for me is an absolute breeze.
Secondly, Hammond has pathetically weak abilities, he can pile drive which is very ineffective against more than one, he can act like a wrecking ball and hit you but unless your very close to a wall, his shield is crazy easy to break, and his ultimate is insanely easy to avoid.
Hammond is in a very bad position right now and he needs a big buff, I don’t know what it would be but all I know is that he needs a buff.

its not what hes individually capable of, its the impact on their team as a whole. doing 100 damage instantly to everyone within a certain radius (with damage drop off its probably around 400 into a group of 6) opens up tons of opportunities to get off picks and strains the teams healers, a genji is amazing coupled with hammond, he has his shift which allows him to take advantage

Ok, I didn’t know he did 100 damage normally he does like 30 to me as far as I see, maybe I never checked but it’s good to know, the only reason I don’t like the pile drive is that it may be a bit effective the way you put it but, Hammond is loud and easily visible so the second he pile drives the entire team puts a focus on him pretty much killing him.

There’s a big difference between 100 damage and 100 MAX damage. Hammond does 100 damage if you land on top of them, but other than that his damage fall off is so insane it will likely do 20-40 damage.

it would take a ton of testing to see exactly but its 100 if you directly make contact and around 50 in the general vicinity thats still a ton of damage that can only be blocked by a well placed CC
He kinda feels like winston. He’ll never get the golds or even the glory but can be very important if played right. He’s a higher skill version of winston since it feels harder to get direct piledriver kills but when you do it does a lot of damage. Hammond has a million counters and one of his biggest is played a lot so I don’t think he will see much playtime.
I disagree completely! It’s just at your rank that Hammond is awful because all the really good hammonds would be diamond+. The last time I checked on overbuff (1 day ago, probably changed since then) Hammond had a 80% win rate in GM!
80% is not high considering how long he’s been out, I mean look at PvPTwitch, he’s the best Junkrat in the world but only with a 70-ish winrate. Also, like “KevinAteNine” said, Hammonds biggest counter is played a lot, I don’t know exactly what he meant but I believe it’s Reaper or Hog, I’m a very good Reaper main and If a hammond gets anywhere near me he will get a whole load of shotgun right to his smirky face.
Probably his worst thing may be his Ultimate, it’s HORRIBLE, I hate that it’s so easy to get away from and clear out, a Hog ult can probably make a bigger impact on the enemy team.

Possibly the only weak thing about his kit is the ult, and that’s something that may improve as players get a better understanding of how to get value from it. Hammond is incredibly powerful. Like, soon people will complain he’s too good powerful. He is easily the strongest dive tank. He contests well, has the best initiation in the entire game, has the fastest walk from spawn, is (relatively) resilient to snipers, gets the best value from vertical maps, has super strong boops, movement locking abilities, and more. He is an excellent addition to the tank class.
He’s like if Doomfist was a tank.
