Hammond and Stalling

A hero being so incredibly powerful at stalling is not fun at all… He single handily has made 2CP a lot worst. (He straight up ruined Anubis)

I strongly feel this part finally needs attention… I don’t think a rework, but I think its kind of obvious he should have his power shifted into other parts of his kit?

How does everyone feel?

Hack him, stun him, sleep him, hook him, freeze him, punch him.

Choice is yours.

Hard disagree. Ball is fine. Zarya is fine. Some of the other tanks are just a little too weak. We don’t need to keep nerfing tanks. If we keep it up nothing will be able to fix queue times.

He has his counters. Ball is very good right now and you can’t deny that.

I’m strictly talking about his stalling capabilities right now, nothing else.

If your attacking and you don’t have Mei/Sombra, (Which is most likely the case currently) any tank can just swap to ball and stall easily when needed. And this is the part that is annoying.

I figure Hammond is the reason that the high tier meta moved to Sigma/Roadhog.

Because Hook and Rock are good at locking down Hammond.
Especially if that’s a layup to a sleep dart.

This is incorrect. It’s not balls fault most of the overwatch player base is terrible at focus fire.

Hack, Wall, Freeze, Flashbang, Brig Bash, Hook, Pin, Rock. Reaper…

I hate the rat. I despise hammond so much. A small squeaky waste of oxygen. His little squeaks are worse than some d.va mains spamming “is this easy mODE”, “Nice try”, “winky face!”, etc. I wanna just lower my heel slowly and just… crunch

In conclusion, I just dislike the rat and I saw a hammond post and decided to rant about the little ball.

Again not the point of the post, I’m well aware of the options. It’s about having an already established team composition and having to deal with a stalling ball. And it almost always requires everyones attention…

It makes 2CP so much worst.

hes not the only one guilty at doing that tho, lucio and an insane tracer can stall like that sometimes but yea he is the worst :stuck_out_tongue:

i actually remember the mass mercy rez days, just when you think you killed the entire team on point mercy flys in and rez’s them all lol

Ball is easy to take down when your comp has any sort of stun or hack in it. The problem comes when your team doesn’t have that and then is on the verge of successfully taking the point. The enemy team then has huge stall potential since your team will be stuck on the point with him without the opportunity to switch mid-team-fight. It’s worth keeping a stun on the team even when they don’t have Ball just in case unless you have a high-damage comp that can burn through him quickly enough without one.

But what does the fox say?

I’d like to see the grappling hook be put on a resource meter.

It would technically be a buff for all the hammonds out there who know how to Transform and Roll Out (send out grappling hook at any time!),

BUT being on a meter that runs out means that hammond loses the ability to swing round n’round forever in the deal.

It’s called a tactic. And sometimes there will be tactical advantages and disadvantages.

honestly if there is a ball on the enemy team and your team has no form of CC, Ball is just gonna parade all over your team. Ball is powerful at stalling and being annoying to your team if your team is uncoordinated and has no form of CC.

hammond makes paris half way playable by providing a nice way of sending the defenders flying from that high ground so its not 24/7 bastion bunkers

Also he has plenty of counters as people have pointed out.

I agree his stalling potential is too strong especially since the objective of the game is not killing but rather capturing points and/or escorting payloads. You can still win games with low number of eliminations if your team is eliminating the right targets and payload is being escorted/point is being captured because the team is doing a good job of preventing the defending team from touching payload/point.

I don’t mind giving him compensational buffs in other parts of his kit if it means toning down his stalling potential. I know people say his main counter is CC but CCs have taken a significant nerf earlier this year, so they are not as effective as they used to be so Hammond should be toned down a bit as well to match the CC nerfs.

And I’m calling out that tactic to be an annoying concept that only hurts the game, and in no way enhances it.

Imo that tactic makes an already disliked map type way worst then it is.
