Halo MCC on PC/Steam "Will" Support Ultrawide

Overwatch did support ultra wide early on but they removed it because of “the advantage” they believe it gives. They’ll probably never reverse that decision.

I see this argument a lot, but players honestly don’t get that much of an advantage.

No ability uses wider tnan the max setting for FOV for autotargeting.

Enemy footsteps telegraph flankers just as easily as vision… spotting enemies in your peripheral only provides an advantage for absurd 180+ degree flicks, which requires a wide mousepad since most snipers will be lowering their zoom sensitivity.

Peripheral vision doesn’t assist you if your aim isn’t up to snuff.

Moreover, the camera system for third person cameras can be modified so that it doesn’t give wider FOV than 16:9 third person cameras.

I don’t have an ultrawide monitor, but I did simulate it with my graphics card desktop resolution on my normal monitor, and its awful. It’s a literal handicap to your vision.

And if we’re weighing the crimes here…

  1. Small pool of players get a mostly unmeasurable advantage to peripheral vision
  2. Small pool of players get an extremely measurable and frustrating disadvantage to main vision and potentially get motion sick from all the movement and headbobbing

Input lag, monitor refresh rates, gaming mice and keyboards, graphics cards that pump out more FPS, and monitors with frameblending removal are already making a massive divide in player SKUs and provide an already existing advantage gap.

It would be a hardware advantage if you have money, to see more area in the map at any given time and unfair

4k 60 for widow is pretty nice tbh. A lt more realestate for narrowing the view.

A re-release going all out on graphical support seems appropriate, considering that’s basically the entire purpose of these “remastering” projects.

Welp, there are reasons why i dont care about halo i guess.

dont like the story?

honestly i cant wait for people to complain how halo 3 isnt graphically better…like it matters

Im a casual player with bad aim :stuck_out_tongue:

i mean, halo isnt that competitive, i mean you got 40+ singleplayer chapters to play and you can play custom games with friends, also multiplayer has always been…alright for halo, its a side dish after all

It’s not actually competitive anymore, beyond the sense that it has a PvP multiplayer mode available that you can play if you want.

The thread creator was just calling it that to make a point against Overwatch for its screen resolution support, even though when the original Halo was “one of the most popular and competitive shooters,” it was locked to 480p resolution.

i mean, honestly the custom maps are the funnest things in halo

Halo 2 for life bro…

Halo’s not competitive anymore…? Huh?

It is.

This Studio is just a joke when it comes to Ultrawide Support when every other “Competitive” Game supports it this one is still garbage support
