Half of bronze is probably in elo hell

Ok so hear me out, A lot of bronzes are probably hardstuck at that rank. It isn’t because of their teammates (ok maybe it might be) but from a bronze POV, you would think that the lowest rank could be able to do nothing, but I have been seeing games that had people who had game sense, knew where to go, maybe not perfectly but they certainly knew what they were doing. This is the case for a lot of game in bronze too

Maybe I only notice it because I am trash, maybe I am getting smurfed on a lot, but I know that a lot of bronze is actually at a higher skill than the lowest rank possible.

You see the disparity in every elo. There should be another tier below bronze and another tier after GM.

I’m sure for OW1 bronze and silver players it’s particularly difficult to find stable footing.

ELO hell? Is that where the demons all jam out to Evil Woman and Mr. Blue Sky while torturing you?

Bronze skill level is all over the place. Bronze isnt for learning like it use to be. Skilled players like to ruin games and make your matches crazy hard.

One time i had a 88 elim doomfist with 28k dmg just by himself wipe my team out in bronze

I see what you did there and I support it.

im like you…in OW1, i was bronze about 750SR while playing mercy…they told me ana was a better support so i started playing her…dropped to bottom 500 and it was at that point, i could never climb out of bottom 500…

now, i recognize that im not a great player…but, i always felt i was better than bottom 500.

i just dont mess with ranked anymore…just not worth the hassle of trying to climb out of the bronze ranks, and never seem to be making any progress.

ill stick to QP where uneven matches dont make you lose rating.

well simply put, game sense doesnt matter until you are able to act on it.

while i would disagree that a bronze player (or anyone in the metal ranks for that matter) would have any concept of real game sense, even if they do they likely arnt able to act on it simply because their fps fundamentals (aim, positioning, awareness and so on) are all really bad.

the people that tell you game sense is the most important come from 1 of 2 groups.

group 1 are people that play in masters or higher. the reason we’ll say this is because for US it is very important for climbing higher then we already are. so from our perspective it is the most important thing

group 2 are people that play in the metal ranks (bronze, silver gold and plat) because they were told game sense matters the most but you’ll notice they arnt climbing.

the difference between groups 1 and 2 is that group 1 already had the good fps fundamentals required to climb and then slowly improved game sense over time. the problem is group 1 alot of the time forgets how important those fundamentals are and will over value game sense in the metal ranks.

while their are heroes that have basically no mechanical requirement and focus heavily on game sense they are not the norm for the game. chances are aslong as you arnt playing a hero that obviously never has to aim you probably need those fundamentals.

the most important of those fundamentals as i already typed are; mechanic’s (both aim and movement), general understanding of macro and micro positioning (knowing to stand near cover relative to the person/group you are fighting), awareness and cross hair placement.

these are fundamentals of the fps genre and thus are universal and can be applied to any fps game.

luckily if you have these well trained you can easily hit diamond and sometimes even masters off just this alone.

game sense is built over time based on the experience you have while playing against other people. but if the people you play with are bad and arnt playing correctly your game sense is tuned improperly and will need to be retuned as you climb. this is why the game sense heroes are so difficult for people to climb with who arnt already good.

The problem with bronze is all the smurfs in there that obviously don’t belong there stomping others. I’m not sure if elo hell is the right term but I know some players there actually belong in a higher rank but of course can’t get out because, again, smurfs.
