Why are half the games I solo queue vs 5-6 stacks?
Shouldn’t stacks be facing other stacks? Fix your matchmaking damn cube crawlers.

Have you tried snapping your fingers?
There should be an exclusive solo-queue where you are insured to only face other solo-queuers.
I’d venture to say 85% of the playerbase solo-queues or duos. Very few actually stacking up with +3.
Anyhow, I think the vast majority of the playerbase would take slightly longer queues if it meant never filling into a match where you’re paired with a 4 or 5 stack as a loner up against a 6 stack, and you know the second you begin losing that 4-5 stack is going to begin malding in chat about you and then report spam you post game.
Probably not a good way to get them to do something, lol.
But yeah groups being put against solo queue players is a big issue. At the very least I think the game should make a priority list. It should try to put solos together. Then move to duos, etc.
No, they shouldn’t “try to prioritize”.
They should just flat out have a solo queue option.
Plenty of games out there giving players options with how they queue. Idk why OW has chosen to be so behind the times.
Make two separate queues. They’ll have no shortage of players lining up in the solo-queue line. Then you just incentivize solo-queuers to occasionally join the group queue through priority passes, which should be the only source for them. Flexing is a joke.
The only reason I don’t agree with a solo queue is right now with the size of the playerbase queues would be insane.
A solo only queue won’t work because the queue will need solo players to fill out groups such as a 5-stack, 2+3, or any time there are not enough duo or trio groups to fill a match. It will be even less feasable in OW2 because 5 is not divisible by 2 or 3. With a dedicated solo queue the only way to play with friends will be in a full stack.
Sorry but that’s a weak argument. Solo players do not buy the game to accommodate Blizzard’s dogmatic vision of “play with your friends”. What that really means is “force the rest of the team to put up with your friends”. It’s bad game design, catering to a niche minority of the playerbase at the expense of the majority.
The advantage of grouping up with friends is huge in OW, you usually have tanks and healers guaranteed that communicate with each other, thats downright massive in a game like this. I usually just leave games where we’re all solos vs 5-6 stacks.
I imagine players are stacking to minimize the number of trolls they get on their teams. If you aren’t in a stack, perhaps you are (the problem) being passively avoided by players with more initiative. It’s a bad look to be both intolerant and lazy; Better to just pick one and stick with it, imo.
This guy doesn’t have friends
I don’t even look to see whether people are grouped. It seems like a pointless thing to keep track of.
question
what is the (current) game going to do for a 5 stack? the game needs 1 more, or do they just not get one and have to play 5v6?
They never implemented Solo Q, but if now we have it, we have a way more balanced matches, expecially in QP where u can found a 3700 DPS player with a 1400 mate… or Two Platinum Tank, VS Two Silver tank… I ever think that the called “privacy mode” is a necessity (for them) for hide this things.
Often 5-6 stacks are really poor performers. I don’t see an issue with that.
Also, most of blizzard games “incentivize” playing in a group.
You get better exp, get the option after each match and even have some weight trying to match you with them.
Solo queue would be put in a 5 stack because they need to fill the team, similarly to solo queue being matched with one duo and one trio.
While they could do comp with 2 perks (entire team or soloers). Pretty much most of the playerbase would cry, I wouldn’t mind on comp those rulings because comp aren’t for fun or mainstream to begin with. But convince folks about that when blizzard are the first ones to not try have some integrity in there makes things really unlikely to happen.
I have plenty of friends, unfortunately none of them are either as big a nerd as me or don’t want to play a “dead game”.
Not to mention the stacks are usually smurf groups, because the devs fully support cheating in their own game.
