Everyone is saying that hack is near instant now; human reaction time and travel time of projectiles isn’t fast enough to deal with it the second you notice you’re being hacked.
How do ya’ll deal with Flashbang then? A near instant stun that almost guarantees your death. On Sombra you can break line of sight; what do you do about flashbang?
flashbang isnt always instant death it can be stopped and avoided by many heroes, and your teammates can easily save you. You also have to be at a much closer range to flashbang somebody, and it has a longer cooldown than hack. With hack, you also have a chance to escape, but its slim to none unless your literally entire team comes to shield you, heal you, and get you the hell away from the fight. With hack, its a pretty long time you cant use abilities, which is what this entire game is about btw. You can also bait a flashbang easily with heroes like tracer, genji, or pretty much anyone with a far escape or invulnerability ability. But both abilities have their strengths and weaknesses but its much easier to avoid being flashbanged than to avoid being hacked
Hack isn’t an instant death either. The same rules apply. The cooldowns are similar as well. You can’t bait a hack, but once you know where Sombra is she certainly can’t use it against you. Flashbang +FTH is basically instant death to every squishy on the roster. SOmbra can’t do anything like that.
You have to aim flashbang and if you get interrupted, damaged, miss, etc. flashbang is on cooldown.
As Lucio I deal with Flashbang by booping you right as you’re going to do it (it’s easy to predict) causing you to be displaced and unable to reliably hit shots onto me (Unless you’re Pine).
Same with an ally. If McCree tries to flash a team mate, I boop McCree away to save the team mate.
Hack is auto-lock. No aim required. Just hold down a button. Interrupted? Can still hack. I can peel Sombra away from my team, but if Sombra hacks me I’m helpless and must rely on my team.
No counter play. I can’t predict hack to stop it. I can be hacked in between shots or when reloading.
If you had invested as much time in McCree as you did in Sombra you wouldn’t make this comparison. Flashbang has many limitations that Hack does not have.
If you boop Sombra before she hacks you, hack is interrupted. I agree, Lucio’s gun is trash but that isn’t Sombra’s fault. You can get in close and melee Sombra continuously; getting around and behind her stops her from targetting with Hack.
Not sure whether this is a serious response, but all of the “counters” you mentioned work just as well against Hack as they do against Flashbang, with the added bonus that you or any teammate can prevent it from happening in the first place by hitting her with anything. She also doesn’t kill anyone near-instantly after hacking them or prevent them from fighting back.
You’re comparing a medium range ability on a high mobility character vs a short range ability on a low mobility character. You deal with flashbang by literally not standing next to McCree.
If you boop Sombra and interrupt her hack, then she can hack again that’s true. But why would you let her? You’ve just learned that there’s a Sombra behind you. Her moment of suprise is gone. Is she gonna try to fight you and whoever you’re with to get the hack on you, or is she going to run?
