Maybe I hit a bug, but I’m playing Sombra, hack a Widow. She immediately hooks away. Am I missing something? I thought I had a 5 second window for all the enemy abilities to be down. Is this intended? If so, is there a list somewhere of what hack does and doesn’t disable because anytime I play Sombra it seems wildly inconsistent. Granted I don’t play her often, but this seems incredibly unintuitive given how the ability is described.

Hacks ability lock out only lasts 1 second and change.
The rest of hacks duration is for the damage and other bits of hack.

Thanks for the info. Guess that explains it. It definitely used to be longer though right? I’m not imagining that I hope.
You’re not going crazy, it was like 5-6 secs. OW2 changed it to 1.75 secs?

It used to last the whole duration (1.5 currently)- they reduced it as part of her rework in ow2. It’s intended use is to be more of an interrupt, and the rest of the value coming from the extra damage / wall hacks for team / etc

yeah, ability lock out used to last 5-6 seconds coupled with low damage. Now you have only a couple more point of damage only while hack is active, less overall damage, with all of the utility gone! Aren’t they generous with this gutting, I guess they could’ve just removed her from the game!

Got it in one. They “reworked” Sombra to turbo-nerf her, and people are still complaining that she’s too strong and needs to be nerfed more.
Way too many Genji and Doomfist mains out there.

I really don’t see many people complaining she’s too overpowered. I see “annoying” a lot- but overpowered? Not too often.
I consider her weak- and I’m a Doomfist Main.

Yeah, because hack can disable abilities at all. Their contention is that a hero that can silence doesn’t belong in an ability based game, so Sombra existing is literally the worst thing on the planet.
Never mind that a huge chunk of the roster is only balanced by “Sombra can hack them”, but, ya know.

They won’t be happy until Sombra’s hack just plays a sound clip of kids cheering and nothing more, honestly. Just completely dumpster the hero in the bottom of omega tier and then empty out a couple dozen port-a-potties on top.

Damn, didn’t expect this much response. Glad I’m not the only one thinking she’s utterly worthless. The whole reason I switched was because the Widow was handling our team and no one seemed interested in acknowledging it so I figured I could at least hassle her enough to get a switch. Also explains why the damage increase didn’t really feel like much of anything. Had been a while playing Sombra so I didn’t realize just how bad her nerfs were.

Roadhog should apply the hack on hooked targets.
The damage increase puts you something like 7% over what she was capable of doing pre-rework (ie, OW1). It’s basically worthless, you didn’t get anything worth having in exchange for the stupid conditional damage buff.
Oh, and just wait until you press Q. Hoo boy, did that get turbo-nerfed into the ground.

Sombra fires 20 rounds a second. She used to do 8 damage, she currently does 7, going from 160 to 140
With a 25% increase in hacked targets she goes to 175- which is almost a 10% increase over her old OW1 damage
However she also has a decent reduction in spread, so her “actual damage” in comparison is actually a fair bit higher, albeit harder to “quantify” in comparison
Again- not that I think she’s strong (quite the opposite), just elaborating a bit.
It lasts 1 second. It’s not clear in the game as the screen still says HACKED. Abilities are locked out for 1 second
Nope! I just couldn’t remember the exact numbers so I guesstimated :^ ) it’s really pitiful isn’t it? Idk why they thought this was good, and now there’s a rework coming and I’m even more concerned about how bad she’ll be in the future. I was worried before with ow2 coming they’d change her ._. My poor favorite hero
