Think there are still one or two modifiers I didn’t get yet but it’s a pretty decent mode, like you have to brainstorm each round what heroes get max value out of the effects sometimes it’s obvious like move speed + vampirism we’re in sym city, but then other combos like ult health packs + crouch to stealth has you deciding if you want to try to maximize running around the map for packs or crouching to hide or maybe building an ult like death blossom and coming out of the shadow realm to pop in on people
Some individual effects have a good push and pull to them as well. Like I got the jump height one on mei and realized oh I can jump on top of my own walls that’s busted, oh wait but also the enemies can do this too, but they might not realize it. The aerial one is interesting too because there’s this dynamic where the fliers are permanently buffed but then the snipers are also super buffed but only against the fliers so it’s like these two factions with a few other players on stuff like kiri bunnyhopping to get the ocassional value out of the buff. My favorite is crouch to stealth though takes me way back to the tf2 cloak and dagger camping days (which I used to spend waaaay too much time doing). Oh also chain explosion is good dumb fun
Definitely not a perfect mode, like widow can one shot bodyshot in some of the modifiers and sombra can hack all the healthpacks and build 5+ emp’s per round in the ult packs one, these are probably over the line even for a goofy arcade mode. But still it’s fun for something I"ll probably play 10-20 matches of. Honestly my least favorite thing about it is that it’s on control
As for whether modifiers like this have any place outside of the arcade, I’d say definitely not in the base game outside of perhaps if they were tied to specific map events. But stadium I could maybe see them having like 1 or 2 special rounds per match though obviously tamer, like have a round where bonus cash spawns on the map that needs to be captured or something

I only played a few games, and some perks benefit some characters very much
But it looks incredibly good and fun
It was quite possibly the worst mode I’ve played in ow. But that’s fine, I don’t need to play it, so after a few matches I stopped and went back to normal modes.

Uhh excuse me these are the overwatch forums you can’t just do that you need a 5 paragraph rant about the devs
I assume its replacing current 6v6 or is it separate?
I like it. I was determined to stay with the same characters the whole way through the games I played so far, but it is definitely true that you’ll want to experiment with certain characters whenever certain hacks are in effect.
I like control in general, I don’t really get where this mass dislike for Control crawled out of recently. It would have been cool to just apply this to all of the main game modes, but control is fine.
I heard some people grumbling about not being able to read up beforehand in the menu to see what hacks are actually in the mode. It’s a fair complaint. But I think it’s best to just jump in and see what it throws into the mix, hands-on.
I still don’t know why people feel the need to complain about something free and different. But I know they’ll complain regardless so…
Thank you for this very sensible take!
I quite like it but you’d think by some people’s comments that this mode was meant to replace the main game and is the end of overwatch!

if it replaces current 6v6 I have all grounds to complain.
Don’t know yet it if does. haven’t gotten a reply yet.
would be the same if a random arcade mode replaces stadium.
ans we tell staidum enjoyers to stop complaining and enjoy it.
a mode they would never play.
Health packs giving ultimate = guaranteed Sombra
wow didn’t expect that. they made a good decision to not further ruin the game. props on that.
so its safe to assume its 6v6 oq without tsnk limits? like aatlis is 5v5 oq without restrictions. aka unplayable. bc anything else would actually sound fun.
Genji is absolutely busted in it lol
No strategizing there. I never have to switch off this guy. All the modifiers benefit him more than anyone else.
