…perks feel like they’re just making the ultra sustain worse. So many perks are “give healing when lamp is destroyed, Kiri heals when hitting Kunai, Reaper gets even MORE passive healing, LW gets a constant heal,”. Everything was just tankier. Meanwhile DPS like Echo get “reset flight after elims with Focus Beam” as a MAJOR perk…
Wow, from one drop to two drops of blood per century. He’ll be healed in no time with this 40% perk! That or he’s frolicking across the battlefield for a crumb of health from one of the soul orbs that’s in the middle of the enemy team.
Of all characters to chose to complain about, Reaper is not one of them.
I listed more than Reaper, but I guess it’s easier to just ignore the core of my argument and hone in on one aspect of it
40% additional, not 40% total
You threw Reaper into a group of the most busted abilities when he’s no where near their level. I’m picking apart the parts of your argument I disagree with. That’s the point of a discussion.
I’m aware. 70% lifesteal is next to nothing when it comes at the cost of your most valuable asset. Not only that, but it’s incredibly counter intuitive.
Next to nothing
Next to nothing?
Nothing
Crazy
Other than the fact you mentioned the wrong characters so people are going to come at you, you are completely right. They just made sustain worse. Making the game worse in general. This would be quadrupling down on this dumb as rocks idea that people want a slow paced fps where the only dps doing dmg is Souj, and people with explosives.
Yeah. Healing that requires you to be shooting, hitting your shots, and is proportional to 70% of the damage you do (when the most you can do is 216 per shot, only achievable from point blank) is not that great.
Stack on top of that the fact that you have to be within 5m to get decent heals and waste your Wraith form (the tool meant to give you a brief moment to just barely distance yourself from danger). It’s also coming from shotguns which makes it burst healing that’s a lot easier to burn through than something like say Mauga’s sustained firing.
But that’s all I’ll say in this thread about it because this is not a Reaper thread and I don’t want to co-opt it.
Could be worse, you could play Junkrat with perks that don’t function for the way you play it.
Like, every perks for me on Junk, feels like a severe downgrade.
There are just as many perks that add damage though.
Why do you have to waste wraith? Do you just never find yourself in a situation where you want to cone out of and attack somebody? Do you exclusively use it to run away? It reloads your guns! You can have boosted healing now! That boost even applies to death blossom!
Like cmon man, you’re such a downer, why do you even play Reaper?
Like cmon man, you’re such a downer, why do you even play Reaper?
They play Reaper because they like the character. Also they most probably play the character from experience, unlike you.
Doesn’t sound like they like him!
Also it’s funny you think I don’t play him, that’s quite the assumption!
For what its worth, I think you have the right mindset with this. 70% is great, but due to the inherent nature of Reapers gun, its possible to get a poor spread and die to getting insufficient healing.
I wouldn’t say its next to nothing, but it is NEXT TO next to nothing. Something that could be huge, and often time is, but is basically RNG reliant. I don’t know if random spread is in this game, but I do know that players movements are essentially random when you and they are ADAD spamming.
And then Ana will be banned literally every match.
Lmao
Using Wraith to reload is only something I do when I’m feeling cocky/confident that my opponent will die with no one else nearby to avenge them.
If I use it and there is not a guarantee that I will get a kill, then I will have just wasted my own life and put my team in a 4v5 (or 4v4 if I’m lucky, but I still would not like to leave my team to fight the enemies on an even playing field without me). There is only so much you can do while walking at base speed with weapons that are significantly out-classed by every other weapon in the game.
You wouldn’t believe me if I told you, but I really really try not to look at changes to Reaper in a bad way. I just see the practicality (or lack thereof) of the changes they make to him, see that there is more drawbacks than benefits, and come to the conclusion that he will still be outclassed by other characters because the basics of his kit have severe unaddressed issues that crumble the foundation of every change they give him.
As for why I play him, I like(d) the design of the character, even before I played Overwatch (back when I actually thought the game was so bad and goofy looking that I’d never touch it). I also have the most experience with him. When the devs do something that doesn’t help/fit his character (like for instance picking Anubis as the theme for his mythic), it annoys me. It’s like they don’t even respect the character enough to make something that’s based off of existing lore/content.
/rant over
Yep. Being within range is practically pointless because you’re still missing like 50% of your pellets, regardless of whether or not their doing max damage.
In order to get that 70% and have it be worthwhile, you gotta be stuffin’ it right up there nose for about 140 HP and that’s if they can survive the one tap because excess damage is not refunded to you in lifesteal. The only people you can shoot at and expect to get enough lifesteal to heal you to full are tanks, which are the only people you’re not supposed to shoot.
It do. I think they changed it for a brief period of time for D.va and Reaper awhile ago, but then changed it back to RNG.
Me 2 buddy, seen some ppl say they good but whod deploying mines?one less shot?perk actually nerfs his skill ceiling, sure it makes him more reliable but feels like they couldve added a shot to his clip instead of removing it.i havent pkayed yet so i hope the actually increased the speed without changing its fall rate
Trap is goated tho
I still think you have an overly negative outlook on Reaper. I don’t play damage that often, but when I do Reaper is my go-to character. He feels just fine to me. I don’t always score high on the scoreboard, but that’s because I focus on getting meaningful damage, like Widow does.
He’s very good at going from flanking to frontlining and vice versa. He definitely needs to be doing both of those things to get the most out of his kit since he’s not as good at either as other characters that specialize in one. Reaper is a generalist character, but with a flanking bias as opposed to the likes of Soldier or McCrack.
surely they could’ve made something for jr like having a third mine, where if you have three available, the first one you’re throwing is a dud and the two remaining lose 20 max damage… but allows for some flying rat strats.
I mean, the most I made out of the perks is picking the mine perk because it offers the extra CC on yourself, so you don’t need 2 mines for it…
At the cost being so loud and so obvious.
I mean, to me, it’s clear they hate Junk, period lol. Out of my 3 mains in my team, Junk got jinxed the hardest, Pharah’s perks are “ok” at best and Echo ones are great. Guess which one of the 3 I play the least and the one I play the most lol…
