If you get a Sym on attack please follow her and her TP. She probably knows the fastest way on the objective without the enemies noticing it.
Especially on maps with choke points. You’d save your team so much time.
Also I believe Sym should get a voiceline she can spam to tell her team mates to use the TP.

The Sym should shotcall her TP if she wants her teammates to follow. If she shotcalls and her team still doesn’t follow, this is a valid complaint. Similar to Sombra shotcalling Hack

It depends on the placement. If I like it, I will take it. Otherwise you can feel free to do whatever you want. I ain’t risking it.
The eternal problem of Sym, and Bastion.
“Guys, please play around me.”
And I get it, they are effective when you do so, but still thats a ‘feature’ of their design.

I mean yes. I have seen Syms leading their team to death. But what I mostly experience is that they don’t even consider.
Edit: an example is the following.
Hanamura attack point B. You have died 10 times trying to push from any of the main routes.
Sym opens a TP to try it from the left. No one follows.

The real irony is that before the current rework, Symmetra was much more independent, and IMO, stronger outside of pro tier.
Now she is as team reliant as Sombra or Bastion. That is not a bad thing on itself, but it’s funny because the main complaint about Sym2 was that “she required the team to work around her”.

At that point, fair or not, the team is likely blaming their lack of success on Symmetra. I have seen that a lot.
I am more of a lone wolf player. Some idiot Rein just lost us the game because he was spamming group up trying to go high ground Numbani while staring at me as we had only about ten seconds on the clock. Instead of going with the whole team that grouped with him, he freaking charges near me, gives away my position (I was going to high noon while they dropped on point) and the rest of the team was like, “wut?” and the game ended.
In other words, sometimes even if it is a sick teleport, I have my own way of capitalizing on it without going through it.

Yeah of course. It also depends on your hero. Like… I would never expect a Widow or Sombra to use my TP because they have their own view of the map. They know their locations to be effective. But for example if a Zarya and Rein would come with me and a healer we could lure the enemy on the point so the missing allies could reach us there.
Btw I hate when allies reveal my location. It’s just like as if they play against you.

Your better off using TP for Turret Bomb.
While it isn’t always foolproof, it’s more consistent than having your team use it.

So instead of instantly teleporting 25m towards the point, you’d rather just dance in the choke point and travel 25m of hazardous area by foot. Oh OK. 10/10 plan, sweetie. :^)
OT: Symmetra only needs to call out or even type out 2 to 4 times. Once the team’s in, they’re in. I tend to use Sym on CP since she’s super great there. I say where I’m setting up the teleport and ask for a Rein while in spawn. And more often than not, we succeed if everyone moves together. It’s almost like moving 6 people 25m through the enemy team and setting up turrets near or on the point is SUPER powerful or something when done right. CRAZY stuff! Right?
Then when the 1st point is almost capped I tell them where we’re going next.
Basically, they need to treat Sym like Rein or Orisa until they’ve used the Teleporter. Go to where Sym is and use Sym’s utility. Then Rein/Orisa takes over from there. Not utilizing Sym’s teleporter is basically as bad as not using Rein’s shield at all. Just a bit dumber, since the Teleporter is very visible/audible and has prompts when it is setup.

Every. Bloody. Game.
My story; King’s Row Point A, attacking:
“Wah, they’re using Bastion!”
I switch to Symmetra
(Insert Teammates rants of me throwing/not being viable etc)
After sometime i get Photon barrier. Use it to get close TP to high ground above Bastion. Teammates throw their bodies beyond my Wall but offer a distraction. Throw turrets at Bastion’s base, charge on Orisa shield.
Melt Bastion
Melt Mercy
Get killed by remaining enemies
“OMG, Sym. SWITCH! You’re useless!”

So this is what Gold is like…
It’s painful to watch.
Generally as a ranged hit-scan that plays hyper defensively… Yeah, I literally would rather that. I am not even joking.
The entire strength of TP’ing straight to point is that it allows Sym to essentially flip a game of attack into a game of defense for your team in which the defending team now has to attack their own point. It heavily benefits Sym as she has simply always been more effective when you have to run at her, and flashbang (assuming you’re on McCree) can be very helpful in a situation like that, especially for your very vulnerable Sym, who is usually still the first to die after fulfilling her purpose.
But then you stay at choke and just get jumped on and essentially throw that teamfight by not teleporting with your team.

Nah. If they are jumping on me, they are down and we can take the point ez. I have respawn advantage on first point and am pretty decent at taking care of myself. Do not get me wrong, I agree with your sentiment. I feel it is undervalued and want other people to take it myself. I just can’t. I play like a complete b-word and that is just my style. It is a wonder I ever learned Reaper or Doomfist.

Use a mic and ask your teammates to follow you? Thats an easy way to solve this issue
There is nothing really consistent about turret bombs. That feeling you get when you place 3 turrets, are about to land what can possibly be a fight altering bomb and your TP appears in front of them and doesn’t teleport and now you’re stuck with a 30 second cooldown.

i never use tp simply because i don’t trust a random player’s logic
not worth the risk
Cmon Kevin, you know I promised to not use my mind control powers on people after that accident in 2009.
No seriously, do you get teams that listen to you when you try to shot call in voice coms?
I mean the post above me just says it all really.
