It depends on the range, for example if he’s about 10-15 meters away, and I am on Ashe or McCree, it’s an easy flash or coach gun. Then you set him up for a pick, he’ll always go in a straight line, and double jump makes him very easy to predict. But you gotta practice it.
5DPKQ is a 1v1 Practice Field I’d recommend you look into.
So we can agree that genji is not a team player and that is why he is so mained? Because he can actually do something to win the matches instead of beign hardstuck because every damage you do in this game is basically meaningless most of the time?
I typically play Doomfist when I’m not playing Genji. Usually I just peel for my supports and when Genji shows up I just start charging my punch and most Genjis either panic double jump in which I can predict where he lands or dashes through me which i just 180 punch.
I would assume most people main Genji because he is rather difficult to play well and some people find his playstyle fun and rewarding when successfully done.
In close range throw in a lot of melee and strafe erratically around him as he does most weebs that are picking him atr wannabes and don’t have that much control over him, like actually fightback never try to escape go at him like madman most weebs are wuss and will at first try to fight you all gloaty of their new found spam right click but as you dodge weave landing your shots and sometimes just melees at half health they will deflect keep close to them and keep weaving they will cancel, then try a desperate dash now you slaughter.
They, panic somuch to extra melee shots from lucio, zen etc. Esp as lucio don’t ever run take the fight and kill him. He has more chance to aim at you with spam if you run away pressure him.
Ofcourse smurf weebs or seasoned weebs require mace to the face and some soul sucking.
If you have decent aim, then you can play a sniper like Ashe or Widow into him. Just make sure you know where he is at all time since he is a flanker and will target you a lot.
Otherwise, play Cree for the flashbang CC to fan him or headshot him out of existence. The Tracer v Genji duel is pretty even and is doable. Torb and his turret are also a very good pick.
Lead him into turrets or hit him with an orb early. The best thing you can do is distract Genji or get him to run. Alternatively, escape via teleporter. (Go back if he dashes to chase you.) If he catches you unprepared, you’re dead if you don’t receive some aid.
Sombra
See, Sombra’s hack has a hidden passive when it comes to Genji. When hacked, most Genji players lose all ability to duel you and they’re free pickings if they’re not being healed.
Basically, Hack, attack, translocate if you start losing the duel.
And, finally, for something more general, getting Genji to use his dash and then putting distance between you with mobility or CC is helpful since he really struggles to make up that distance without it. Furthermore, unless his recent changes changed this, he can’t take you out very well if your team aids you. So bundle up close with you tanks and get that good stuff from your supports.
