attention: some abilities need to be used not at the last moment

  1. Keyboard
    0.1) Maintaining distance (Hook has a limited flight area 21m)
    0.1.1) If you are in the Hook area, simply change your movement after the RoadHog throws its Hook
    0.2) Use the walls. You don’t have to be completely behind the wall for the Chain Hook to break.
    0.3) Bodyblock by tanks
    0.4) Just kill him with team focus
    0.5) Just heal hooked target. After buff its no so much effective but you can save 250 hp target ez.

Honestly I think people wouldn’t mind hog hook so much if it didn’t have the range it does. Just reduce the range on it slightly and it’s fine

that is fair enough but for me adjusting to a range decrease for roadhog would take so much time :stuck_out_tongue: muscle memory is a strong thing

I did this same exact thing before. So much stuff counters and blocks hook. No amount of pointing it out will make these whiners change their minds.

I will say though roadhog should have his damage buffed back to original level, he shouldn’t be able to heal his teammates, and he should probably walk slower.

Thats my tidbit on this whole thing.

I think if it toke Roadhog time to charge his CC it would be fair just like for Ana.

He ALREADY has a Hook activation time of 0.3 seconds Or less. but it definitely is

Many do not know this and therefore often miss.
You can change the trajectory even after pressing the button

And this throw time makes it ineffective at close range against mccree or doom

Well Ana has the same problem with that.

You know, smurf roadhog destroys even Phara. Because she can’t fly high. But she does not want to learn to fly, better give a reduction in damage for hog and range of Hook.

Then the Tanl dies to the broken hook.

Ganging up on Hog doesnt change how broken that hook is.

Heal a corpse? Once you’re hooked, you’re dead, or thrown into a pit & die.

DM cant even block the hook like other barriers.

Weak af & she nerfed to the ground in Experimental.

All the other Tanks cant do much.

Hammond is just a DPS just like Hog is. So using either of them is just using another broken DPS to fight the other.

I dont even want to start on all the squishies you named, and all the escape abilities that arent as effective as you think. Especially Reaper, Hog will just wait out Wraith.

And the gamesense & movement crap, doesnt matter you do, you will get hooked. And what about the times where you’re focused on another target & Hog gets you? You cant do anything then.

And I’ll explain to you what’s the matter.

The point is that Brigitte is support. Moreover, it both defends and attacks well. It deals area damage and area heals

But RoadHog is different. he can’t just shoot at the shield and support the team. he needs to KILL. If he does not kill, he is not just useless, but even harmful.

In addition, a tankline with a roadhog is inferior to any variation of a double shield and even Orisa / Diva. It’s just weaker. So either you kill for Roadhog, or change the character or report

defense matrix cant block hook, wow i didnt know that what a SURPRISE, dm can easily block the follow up damage obviously it doesnt block a hook

People do not understand that some characters are able to protect themselves and their allies, while others only themselves.
And some characters keep their abilities for a special occasion (like brigitte), while others like hammond can help if they have the opportunity.

For example, D.Va vs. Roadhog won’t waste the matrix just like that.

In general, to counteract RoadHog, one character is enough to take it over.

whether it’s Sombra or D.VA. Or Sigma / Rein. Opportunities - a lot

1 zarya can save bubble special for hooks – and this hog will cry hard. Because he will usls. Hog without hook its throwpick.

The list is almost comical. So many of them would be in situations that almost never happen once hooked. Getting a barrier in there other than perhaps Sigma is unlikely to happen. Sure you can save them before the hook pulls them in but let’s face it, even watching GMs 90% of what you suggest never, ever happens.

It is a great theoretical list which isn’t wrong that these things are possibilities but most of it is completely impractical and suggests hook is way more counterable than it actually is. The best thing to do with hook is stay out of range and attack hog as soon as you hear he used it and track the 8 seconds cooldown to make sure you are out in time. It is much easier to interrupt TaB than hook and he is a sitting duck if you stop him using TaB when he needs to. There are so many ways to do that instead and pretty much guarantee a kill if he is away from his team.

Hog’s combo doesn’t do enough damage to kill a tank.

agreed, zarya on her own can pretty much remove anything roadhog can do every hook is either hitting a bubble or stopping his damage either way its stopping roadhog from getting value and its not a difficult thing for zarya to do

For counter hook you must think about it no when your teammate died.

For example when sigma unpress shield and hog can hook him he must throw a stone in hog face or hide behind wall.

But 99% sigma just die.
The only reason RoadHog is playable is because people don’t want to think.

Hook cannot be countered by accident. This should be done PURPOSE.

For example, you don’t see RoadHog at the front. Output? He’s on the flank, keep your sleep ready. Even if you don’t think about RoadHog, you have to move in all 4 directions so that RoadHog can miss you from the flank. And you know what? I missed those players on Ana. but of course below GM this does not happen

Bap must BEFORE keep his ability charged and not press it BEFORE RoadHog throws Hook.

And so literally with everything. Sombra must position itself in advance to hack RoadHog. the easiest and most convenient way to do this is on flank. But you should not hack him at the moment when he throws Hook. Otherwise you won’t be in time. A little BEFORE. And this is GAMESENSE. Know when and what a person will do in the near future
